I'm liking it so far, but the fader has more dead space than I'm used to and is very difficult to reconfigure. I'll probably take the Innofader Pro2 out of my Rane and try to drop it in the Scratch. If there are no issues, then I'm good to go.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/roG9fKt6idaJgKc this video is pretty good on explaining on how to adjust the cut in time.. the problem with the inno fader pro 2 is the size.. it can be tricky to get it in most mixers.. i hope this vid helps you in your journey with that mixer..

@@GraceByFaith-86 @GraceByFaith-86 Thanks for the link, but that was the exact video I used as a guide while trying to reconfigure. Nothing changed at all after about an hour of retries. You're right about the Pro2 being difficult to get into a mixer... getting it into the Rane 56 was an ordeal. Luckily Innofader has a mounting bracket that should help this time. Thanks for looking out though!

@DJStatexFreudIanSlip

Thats skratch notation. The up/down wave lines represent forward/ backward movements of the hand on the turntable. The little hash marks are the fader cutting the sound in/out.

@oldmannewturntable

The see-saws are spinkled in here and there, but from 0:33 - 0:37 are see-saws. TTM has a great tutorial vid here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIuriqGLmbWqack. The labels are just standard Avery easy peels labels; they can be applied/removed easily.

Just wanted to give you props for putting in the work and thank you for posting your practice. I recently started practicing to try and get better with cuts and your videos are a great inspiration (I've been a bedroom dj since the late 90's). I'm curious to know what the diagrams on the sticky notes represent? Also wondering if you have a special table for your setup? I have a folding 6-foot table that wobbles pretty bad when I scratch and am looking to get a new one.
@oldmannewturntable
@oldmannewturntable Ай бұрын
Thanks! I feel like I learn almost as much from the other amateur DJs on YT as I do from some of the pro tutor videos on here, so I’m glad my struggle can also help motivate others. 😊 The table is a ZenSports 55-inch computer desk I bought off WalMart a few years ago. It still wobbles a little, but the weight of the turntables and flight cases mostly keep it in check. A workbench from HomeDepot or might be a better option for stability, but the best ones were definitely outside of my budget. The diagrams are Turntablist Transcription Method (TTM) for the scratches - like music notation but for turntablists. The diagonals are the up/downs of the record, and the dots or vertical lines are the fader closes. It helps me to have a visual of the stuff I’m practicing. For more info, check out TTM Academy… this is one of their tutorials on the Joe Cooley scratch w/ TTM: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooeYhIN5lqahg68

@@oldmannewturntable Thanks for getting back to me! I looked up the TTM website and totally remember reading about this years ago. I'll do some more research on transcription and a new table. I remember seeing Gangstarr years ago and Premier put cinder blocks under the legs of his table. I think it had more to do with reducing the low-end hum that would sometimes come from vibrations through the stage than keeping the table steady. If you don't mind could you tell me what the rest of your setup is? Looks like Stanton turntables and the old Rane 56? Are you running Serato, or all vinyl?
@oldmannewturntable
@oldmannewturntable Ай бұрын
@@E-Wix Yep, Stanton ST150 w/ Ortofon VNL needle on the left turntable and Ortofon OM Pro S on the right. You're right, the mixer is an old Rane 56 TTM that I added an Innofader to. I'm running all vinyl with new battle records as well as old-school stuff that I stumble across on discogs.com, but the plan is after I get more comfortable with the basics after about a year or so, I'll take a look at Serato.
@E-Wix
@E-Wix Ай бұрын
@@oldmannewturntable Gotcha. I started on Technics that my friend owned but didn't have the $ to buy my own so I bought some Numark TT 200's about 20 years ago and am still using those. I'd like to get some new tables but everything is so expensive now (especially 1200's) and all geared towards Serato (I'm still all vinyl as well). I have an old Vestax 06 and put an innofader in it as well. Anyway, I'll leave you be, it's nice chatting with you. Look forward to following your progress.
