If you start learning a language after middle school age, it is harder to retain in the memory. Mi esposo es fluent in espanol his native language. However he only speaks English at home. Both my daughter and I don’t hear it enough for it to stick. She’s an A student. Took Spanish 3 years and I don’t think she remembers half of it. I didn’t take classes and probably understand it better than her. I think it’s easy if you really want to learn a language. I’m interested because I enjoy the Spanish people and their culture.
