My wife and I bought 8 instant coffees to taste test, and after 2 tests on 2 different days, we agreed on a 3-way tie for 1st place between Aldi, Cafe Bustelo and Taster's Choice French Roast. Cafe Bustelo was nutty and bolder than the rest, Taster's Choice was the closest flavor to fresh brewed coffee, and Aldi was the least bitter and least offensive cup, so just a good general-purpose instant coffee. 2nd place was Nescafe Clasico Dark, which was good but tastes kind of ashy, and 3rd was Folgers Classic, which just reminds me of cheap dinner coffee (because it is). Clover Valley (Dollar General) didn't qualify because it tastes just like Cafe Bustelo, but at 1 level tsp per 6oz water, it tasted weaker than Cafe Bustelo at the same concentration. Trader Joe's Columbian also didn't qualify because it was relatively mild and kind of bland.

yeah in my opinion instant coffee takes just a tea spoon of coffee to 6 to 8 oz cup of water stir till desulved then nuke the cup add flavoring to taste and walla your done , regular coffee cost way more and you need a coffee maker and it takes up alot of time . when instant coffee taste just as good if not better just sayin

too me all coffees taste like sh*t but i fix the flavor by adding creamers of many flavers , all i need is the caffeine boost and great flavored enouph said just sayin

I bought a 3 oz jar of Nescafe Clasico a few weeks ago. I used to buy bottled Ice Coffee, (I prefer iced to hot). It is almost as good as the bottled iced coffee that I used to spend seven bucks on.

I'm furious because I just now found out that Cafe Bustelo has sugar and carbohydrates when it should be 0g. And by not having a nutrition value label on the product that literally says it all.

I’m surprised regular Nescafé beat out Tasters Choice. Both made by the same company.

Best I've found so far is Nescafe Amero Americano, that's pretty good, on short trips though I still pack the Aeropress.

Mountain house are not dehydrated, but freeze dried which is a much different process and shelf stable for much longer. We're at the beginning of the video, so I'm certain that you will probably make this error more times during the video. It's really important to differentiate between dehydrated and freeze dried. Also, the blue mountain house bags are the pro pack meals and are higher in calories than the regular adventure meals.

The only opportunity I see with this video is that you used a different type of meal from each company. You should have used the same type of meal across the board and then given an opinion. In my experience most people stick to the basic meal types. Like breakfast skillets and stroganoff. Y’all went off course with those Asian and curry meals.

Nothing wrong with the Nescafé clasico! I honestly drink it at home when I want something comforting - and I usually otherwise drink fancier pour over coffee

I’ve had the regular Bustelo with an expresso pot and the instant. They taste the same to me. Cafe La llave expresso is the best

How can you not pronounce Nescafe correctly? I would think on the trail the individual packets would have an advantage over even a plastic jar just in terms of packability.

Nescafe Classico is always in my cabinet for when I just need a quick cup. Add a little cold water and mix the grounds before adding the hot water. I think it makes a smoother cup.

She sounds controlling.... But anyways... If you're comparing brands, stick to the same flavors. Plus...You only tried ONE flavor per brand. That curry flavor may not have tasted the best, but it (and the brand) could've offered the most/best nutrients and calories.

Your top pick is my go to instant coffee. Definitely not to bad black.

I have never tried the Dahl bat but, I would try other peak refuel flavors also they tend to be as good or better then mountain house in my opinion

Plot twist: Fine/Espresso grounds Do Not Need To Be Filtered. They sink to the bottom of the cup. No need for freeze dried instant

Maxim is a Korean brand and is one of my favorites if you can find it. South Korea makes better instant coffee because they are a new coffee market and instant is less of a barrier of entry because you don't need to purchase some type of brewing method to try it. Jacobs is also good.

Thanks for the great video. I’ve never tried any of the Bustelo coffees but I thought they used robusta coffee beans and not arabica. Maybe that’s why the tea is different. Not sure since I have never tried robusta coffee.

The answer is a titanium French press (ultra lightweight and you get your brewed coffee on the trail)
