@@Aviationist369 the United States government won’t let that plane overseas in military combat because they’re scared it’ll get taken down or possibly copied by other nations. It’s only been in 2-3 missions outside of American territory. What’s the point in spending billions on possibly the most capable plane in the world and keeping it in American airspace for “training” flights all the time. It’s stupid

A highly ineffective vehicle with a higher blue-on-blue tally than all other U.S. aircraft ever combined. It was outperformed at its only job (frontline support) by the Aardvark, a plane built for an entirely different role, as the F-111 was deployed on half the sorties and scored double the confirmed kills, making it 4x as effective. That would be the equivalent of the Lancaster Bomber outperforming the Spitfire in a turn fight. It would be utterly embarrassing. But inter-corps politics will remain inter-corps politics, so unfortunately this outdated piece of flying scrap will remain airborne for the foreseeable future…even though they’re now more expensive than F-35s…which are just better…

And the GAU-8 struggles to penetrate the armour of early Cold Wars tanks in perfect conditions, in combat it can maybe make a crew shit themselves but it’s not turning anything larger than a BMP into ‘Swiss cheese’.

No it can’t, this was proved back in the 70s against 50s tanks, it was highly ineffective against a column of tanks that were not moving, firing or concealing themselves on a bright summer’s day even though the A-10 was allowed to make as many passes as it needed. It performed extremely poorly, taking out a single tank and immobilising 2 more if I remember correctly. Of the 20~25 tanks that were laid out…

Because the gun sounds like a Warthog. It’s as simple as that. Nothing to do with the ‘aggressive look’ And the teeth being painted on the nose has been in service since WW1, it certainly did not give the A-10 its name.

Air New Zealand flight 901 crashed into Mount Erebus Antarctica in 1979,killing all passengers and crew. It was 20 hours before the wreckage was found and almost a week before anyone arrived at the scene to begin recovery of the remains. There is a very good reason no one flys over Antarctica. Technically there are flights over Antarctica, but only on the very fringe on the west coast, from Perth Western Australia to Santiago Chile.

The F-15 was built for air superiority. It was the most advanced and toughest jet of it's time, and, most would argue it's still the toughest. The F-15 excels in all 3 categories of attack, air-to-ground, air-to-air, and air-to-ship. With the MiG-29 having a whopping loss of a 16:28 kill/loss ratio, the F-15 comes in superior in all aspects.
