Powerful. Does Chazzan Montefiore still sing, or is he retired?

One of the hallmark pieces of the High Holydays repertoire in the UK still to this day. I dont believe Yossele Rosenblatt wrote the tune though, despite this being widely thought.

I'm concerned about the embroidered lions. Why are they wearing stockings and why have they pulled them up to their armpits?
@imisstoronto3121
@imisstoronto3121 9 ай бұрын
i'd say look closer and you'll see that what you think are 'stockings' are metallic thread, and what you're commenting on (so funny.....not) is the reflection of the light in the room where the torah cover was photographed.

Very well sung! I think the tempo set by the organ was a little slow, and It missed the maestoso that this piece and this elegant voice have in such abundance. Also, I think at a slightly faster pace, the Bflat at the end could have been taken.

One can never forget how beautiful this prayer is. "All Vows" does not need guitars or pianos to perform it! Remember The Jazz Singer!

One of the better Adon Olam melodies. There are so many.
@bambooseragardenista8329
@bambooseragardenista8329 2 ай бұрын
because of the cadence of the written verses, you can sing "Adon Olam" to a lot of different melodies, including the theme songs to 1960s and 70s television shows. (If you don't believe, me, try putting the lyrics to the theme from "F Troop," "All in the Family," etc. Lol.) That's probably why some of the most popular Ashkenazi versions of the prayer were adapted from 19th-century European drinking songs!
