Thanks for the video. I really like seeing the mods you do to your boat. One thing to keep in mind, be sure to turn off the radar if anyone is on the roof:)

I like your idea, except I’m skeptical that you’ll store traps n stuff on top, it seems very scratchable plus you’d then only use the tent while traps are deployed. Then again I guess that’s the point…

The waves at the beach can get pretty crazy. Some of the older people with our group almost got hurt trying to board. They dropped us off a couple kilometers down the beach on return. Walking back to the resort and some of the waves were coming all the way up to the concrete walls

Is there only a certain time of year when tuna can be fished for? And have you heard of anyone catching them between Rupert and Haida Gwaii or is the west side of Haida Gwaii the only place they are? Thanks
@clearlycoastal210217 күн бұрын
As far as I know its the west side of Haida Gwaii and the best time is august/september depending on the water currents. I have heard rumours of them on the east side of Haida Gwaii but haven't talked to anyone personally who has caught them there

Nice video! One comment, I recommend installing 1 or 2 - 100 watt flexable solar pannels to the roof, the ones that can be laminated directly to the boat(you could still store things on top of them when needed). That would be nice because then you could easily leave your Starlink on 100% of the time. Also, a 50 watt draw really isn't that much draw considering that a typical 12 volt deep cycle marine battery has 1200Wh (12V x 100Ah), so the star link could operate for 24 hour continuously. However, with running the main engine occationally plus a solar pannel or two, you'd never have to worry about killing your batteries.
@clearlycoastal210221 күн бұрын
I got the solar panels with the jackery! I was also looking at the shine2.0 wind turbine that’s coming out spring 2025 to help charge it

Now you can do some LIVE VIDEO-CASTS from the very best fishing areas (non-cellphone areas), where almost no one else has previously done that. You can pioneer that. A LIVE broadcast from Haida/Langara, reeling in a 30 pound Spring, or 100 pound halibut, or dozens of Albacore, is something I've actually never seen before, for example.
@clearlycoastal210222 күн бұрын
I’ve definitely thought about doing that. Would be pretty awesome!
@Bigfishfun33322 күн бұрын
The Mini has average download speeds of HALF (50 Mbps) that of the Standard dish, while in motion at highway speeds, according to the "Starlink Hardware" KZbin channel. The Mini averages roughly 100 Mbps, which is maybe 55% the speed of the Standard dish, when NOT in motion. That same KZbin channel, strangely, did not speed test readings when trolling at 2.9 knots for Chinook Salmon, unfortunately. So on the Mini dish gaming is maybe a bit questionable, as well as is vital live video business conferencing....but uploading more fishing videos for us IS likely fine. 🙂

From Google AI "Compared to a standard Starlink dish, the Starlink Mini draws significantly less power, typically consuming around 20-40 watts on average, while the standard Starlink can draw between 75-100 watts, making the Mini significantly more power efficient for portable applications like [when Jeff makes more videos for us!]"
