It's TMV's lineup from that era minus Ikey and Paul and add in Alfredo Ortiz & Money Mark, both of whom are best known for their work with Beastie Boys

My first Mars Volta concert and there must have been 40 or 50 more over the next several years before they shut down. I couldn't really understand the records that my friend gave me but he insisted I "just pretend I love the band". By that he meant show up early get up front and be hydrated and ready to take it all in. Jack Johnson played right before on the same stage and there were all these younger girls singing along with him and I remember once Mars Volta got going I was just hoping some of them stayed after and got their brains melted. I certainly did.
