At the start of the raid ussop noticed some beast pirates in the distance about to be alerted when the ships were pulling in and put them to sleep with his slingshot before any of the other straw hats noticed including characters like luffy, jimbei, zoro, and sanji ( there was even a gorl beast pirate in the group and ussop noticed all of them including her faster then sanji )

This is very Lovecraftian. Junji Ito was known as Japan’s Lovecraft and I’m a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft. The spirals reminds me of the golden ratio. It’s a mathematical concept derived from nature that is in a shape of a spiral.

The animation is hand drawn over motion capture which is why it looks so different. Very labor intensive process. It's basically a miracle we got something of this quality for a limited series with a low budget. They also got Colin Stetson doing the soundtrack which is perfect. He has done quite a few movie soundtracks, most notably Hereditary
