Both men & women were enslaved i dont know why women are always Portrayed as victims in every regard im honestly annoyed with that, rarely do i ever see women being portrayed as brutal dictators or evil queens anymore, we live in a strange era where all women must be Portrayed as heroes against barbaric creepy, misoggonist men & this idea that only men can hate & only men have Power is woke nonsense & Revisionist history.

28:28 I always figured that the fish was holographic
@ItsGotStarTrek2 ай бұрын
That would make sense, it's funny that they didn't consider suggesting that at the time! Maybe there was a Boatswain's Mate who was in charge of managing the feeding of the fish and we missed out on all sorts of lower decks type shenanigans involving keeping the fish alive, culminating in them installing a hologram after it dies.

Men like hot chicks in skimpy clothes. It is no more complicated than that. I never felt an agenda being pushed on me when I watched shows like this. The agenda was to get viewers.

41:23 My issue with cloaking devices has always been that if you are able to render yourself undetectable by the electromagnetic spectrum, how do you use the electromagnetic spectrum to see other people? The cloaking device should work both ways.
@ItsGotStarTrek3 ай бұрын
Yeah, there is a lot that seems problematic about cloaking devices, which is then exacerbated when you introduce the idea of cloaking particles! Particles?!? Still, the visual gag of Trip missing a hand is funny.

Just now binging SNW and had to seek you guys out for a quality discussion on this episode. 16:45. Consider this. Remember when Spock claimed he was teasing Chapel about not understanding the human adge of "what are friends for?" He did the whole "I understood, i was just teasing you" routine. Perhaps a writer of the show pulled that trick off with his wife & now invokes that tactic in his characters. "Gets em every time. Ohhh, Alex, you are such a smooth criminal." as he checks his look in the mirror.

Thanks for the compliment! As for your theory, that certainly is plausible, or at least may be a part of the "fresh flirtation" algorithm in some writers' minds 😂

The hamsters were big hamsters. Troi was solid white and Riker was that kind of traditional sable hamster type? They were sweet. The only other thing I would have said about the episode was how at the time the producers were calling it a "valentine to the fans". Yeah that shit was not a Valentine. It was a big FU.
@ItsGotStarTrek10 ай бұрын
Your point about the "valentine to the fans" is spot on - Braga and Berman were so dense as to not realize they were insulting the fans of the show they were producing in their attempt to please some fans of a show that had not only been off the air for 11 years but that had gotten it's own wonderful series finale!

First! Love hearing about Trek. Once upon a time, being the IP holder gave absolute power over a franchise. That day is done. If the IP holder insists on not bringing out new content or bringing out garbage content, we can now make our own. I invite all my fellow Trekkers to enjoy another unauthorized novel completely free. Just google Star Trek Lost Destiny Race.
