What if it's on the bottom that doesn't have kiln wash on it?
@BlueNoseTrading6 күн бұрын
It's the same process. Depending on how much and how thick it was, sometimes it's just done, like mine was here.

Love your review. A while ago I tested all the clay bodies from all the clay companies in my state and decided on one that I liked best. Since then I have formulated all my glazes to work on that clay body. I recently tried a different clay body and not a single one of my glazes came out how I’d like on it. So I guess I am locked into my one single clay body or I would have to spend months reformulating and testing and then keeping multiple versions of my glazes for different bodies, etc. Do you have similar issues?
@BlueNoseTrading13 күн бұрын
The reaction between a glaze and clay body is always unique. Sometimes you get lucky, and a glaze will fit multiple bodies if they have similar properties. Testing and reformulating are all part of the ceramics long game. Sometimes, clay body formulas you are used to can change because of forced reformulations due to lack of material availability. All I can say is that testing is key. Hope it all works out for you. :)

Hey there I love your video! Just curious you said the ISO was for the air bubbles I saw you use it the second time in the sped up one but not in the first slower way through one. If you see this is there anyway you could explain how you use the ISO?
@BlueNoseTradingАй бұрын
Thanks for watching it. I used it to spray the surface to break the cohesion of water that causes some surface air bubbles. It's main use to is make bubbles pop.

Hey guys. What are the clearance requirements for that kiln from the manufacturer? We're trying to find one that doesn't require 3' of space to each wall and it looks like yours does not. Thank you
@BlueNoseTradingАй бұрын
I have a Skutt KM822. Skutt recommends at least 18" of clearance from walls. You can find more about their installation information here skutt.com/skutt-resources/resources-just-for-you/architectural-specifications/installation

Can you do the same for the lid of a kiln?
@BlueNoseTrading2 ай бұрын
Yes, but there might be unique challenges with gravity depending on where the damage is at on the lid. At minimum, I would remove the glaze that's one the lid with a blade.

Yes, I like to use a diluted bleach water to spray it down with when it needs a bit more moisture to keep it from getting moldy.

How do I make these? What do I use to make these? I’ve been obsessed with tiny clay ducks, ever since I bought some from a very nice lady in Honduras. In grade 7, I then tried to make some on my own, but had very limited success. They looked alright, but I’d really love to know how to make some like these.
@BlueNoseTrading2 ай бұрын
I sculpt them with my hands. I squeeze the clay with my fingers until it's the shape of a duck, then fire then in an electric kiln, hand paint them with glaze, and fire them again in a kiln.
