this is SO GOOD!! anybody whos confused why this is sought after needs to open there ears this is the BEST defying gravity by far!! the battle cry is one of her best, she puts a really unique spin on her first bring me down, and her riffs on "its me" and "in renown" all pull together with idinas crisp vocals for the best defying gravity.

So the knowledge of this being somewhere in the net circulating has been in m headspace for years, and the fact that it wasn't made public until almost 2 FRICKIN DECADES later is... beautiful. Idina will always be my favorite Elphaba because her acting and singing feels so genuine and powerful. It may not be the best in terms of technique, but the power and life she gave this character, both through her acting and voice, is astounding.

My favorite Defying Gravity performance by Idina. Love all of them of course but this one she solidified herself as to WHY SHE IS ELPHABA always and forever. Ended it with all the embellishments, and every vocal choice completely justified.

In this scene there is 3 mics on Elphaba. 1 in the hat and 2 on her head. They add the third microphone as the other 2 are covered/obstructed by the hat. Hope this helps

no the audio is actually from SF just pitched down and with added reverb to create the illusion of compressed audio it's the 5th June audio

an emergency cover is when an actress currently not involved with the production has to come and take the lead because the lead, the standby and anyone else who could play the role are indisposed. In this case, Jemma was brought in after not having played Elphaba since 2015. She wasn't involved with the production until this cover
