The beat movement had passed before I was born, but I get the feeling that this modest little film captures the beatnik ethos more honestly than is typically seen in movies. Seems like it was a great time for artists and free-thinkers...sorry I missed it.

I was there at ACL that night, and at the live Liberty Lunch concert as well. There are other videos of this version. The Liberty Lunch “Row of Dominos” has a Mexican border feel to it which was intended.

My brother and I own the last existing panel of the mural that David Renaker painted and that graced the exterior of the Prison of Socrates. It was painted in 1959 and was probably taken down about 1964, before this movie was made.
