Yep, the Thousand Lakes, including Minarets Lakes, would be a National Park in any other state. But it's super cool to have access to that kind of wilderness that is permissive to dogs on the trails and open camping sites.

Idyllwild is beautiful. My son started his PCT adventure from Idyllwild back in 2016. I dropped him off and sat in the parking lot and cried, watching my little boy (20 years, LOL) leaving for his trek. He finished and mom was so proud.

mixing the audio from the body cam with the video from the camera you are walking away from is a pro move. Fantastic trick for immersion.

Beautiful capture and trail. I was just in this area! Didn't do it because we were worried for our dog and cliffs. I was wondering if there was lots of cacti too.

I need to let go of my fear’s, I have been put through so much and I just want to be free! Consciously I often tell myself not to leave my adult kids who have their own struggles and I feel like I need to be here for them. Not sure if I should find a tiny home and some land or get an RV and hit the road! When I was young I camped out a lot, lived in a van and cared less about what I owned. I fished or crabbed for many of my meals but that changed when I became a mom. You’re an angel and inspiring!

Is it the tailgate handle or the piece behind the handle. If some has posted one online I could print you a few and send them your way. A Quick Look online seems to show the thing behind the handle as always bresking

Thanks for the video. I haven't been to Idyllwild in over 40 yrs. Back in the 70's we lived down in the desert and we would go up there in the summer to cool off.

A small tip for Cat. Try putting "one tea bag" with the paper tag hanging out in the pot while boiling your water. I get about four cups tea when I do this.

Catherine, your adventures are always amazing! The peaceful mountain vibes, fall colors, and that cozy chili by the fire-pure magic. 🌲❄️ You make 34°F nights seem like a dream with your zero-degree sleeping bag and warm energy. Joey is such a great travel buddy, and Idyllwild sounds like a perfect breakfast escape. Looking forward to seeing you back in the trailer soon! Safe travels and keep sharing these heartfelt journeys. 🛻🍂✨

As a kid being raised in a small house in a small roadside community called Midway between Beaumont and Banning, I could see Mount San Gorgonio from my front yard and Mount San Jacinto out the back door. The air was clear then - last time I was there, over sixty years ago, I couldn't see the mountains through the smog. When my folks took trips to Idylwild I thought I was in paradise. I caught my first trout on a fly from Lake Fulmor, a small impoundment on the way to Idylwild. My love for the mountains was born there. Later my family took vacations up 395 to the Sierra (lone Pine, Bridgeport) so I could fish. As a result I have always been in love with the Sierra, As an adult I lived for a brief while in the Sonora and Tuolumne area and made trips to the eastern Sierra when I could. Before my senior year my family moved to Redding where I was surrounded by mountains, rivers full of wild trout, and made my home anywhere I could see Mount Shasta for the first half of my life. I now live in Montana's Bitterroot Valley, country much like the Sierra in many respects - over 300 miles of small streams tumble from lakes above them like jewels from the crown of the Bitterroot Range. And when I visit them, now, as an old man of 83, I'm like that nine-year-old California boy again, remembering those streams of my boyhood in the Sierra. Your videos take me back home, back to the old home I left to live the latter half of my life in this part of Montana, which I now call home. I think you and Joey would love the mountains, hiking trails, wilderness lakes and streams here as well. Your camera would capture the unique beauties of this place - and you'd be reminded of the best of California by what wer have here. I'm lucky - my heart has three homes: The eastern Sierra, the Redwood Coast, and the Bitterroot. Thank you again for taking me back to places I may never see again, save for your wonderful videos.

I love idyllwild. Been there a few times. It’s very pet friendly so could bring my cat 🐈 who comes with me everywhere due to being a special needs rescue. But she is an adventure cat. Idyllwilds mayor is a yellow lab. I’m glad you got to show Joey the beautiful town of idyllwild.
