it was good everything wasnt explained -- it preserved the mystry -- the use of childrens rhymes was fantastic.... and they used the special effects they had to the limit. (admitedly the future one with the killer cushion ... uhh very 70s and one that didnt worlk well).

No, Jo and Dave did NOT return for the Big Finish audios. The roles were recast, with Susannah Harker and David Warner... although David Collings was persuaded to return as Silver. Interestingly, two years previously, Warner and Collings had both played alternative Doctors for Big Finish (Harker did not, but appeared with Paul McGann in Big Finish's remake of 'Shada').

Sapphire and Steel was one of my all-time favourite black and white television shows from the 1950s to 1960s era. It's a right pity that the show only lasted five seasons.

Bloody AI voice.

That AI is so damn irritating. She looks real enough but her voice - eugh. And you might have edited out the typos before she read them out verbatim. The Liberator is a beautiful ship. But it owes a massive debt to the design of the Enterprise from Star Trek, more than a decade previously. The teleport system was also a direct steal. I still prefer Blake's 7 to Star Trek though.

A interesting video, but some facts were incorrect, and the narrator speaks like she was a computer. I loved this programme, and it was a very well done programme, even though it didn't have to many special effects.

How could Sapphire & Steel have influenced Doctor Who, when Doctor Who debuted in 1963, a full 16 years BEFORE Sapphire & Steel came out?
@paulvos4923
@paulvos4923 8 күн бұрын
So according to your logic if you are born in 1938 you cannot be influenced by the second world war because you made an earlier debut.

When ai tries to discuss a controversial experiment or if its a person doesnt help unless there was a more genuine human siding and supporting the ai perspective or or something that stated am ai or voice then it would help a lot more. Idk just voice overs or narration or is weird if its real people. i had to look at some previous videos of this channel to confirm that i might not be making a shallow judgement. i am 100% sure your an ai or bot voice over.

I looked back into this series as of the passing of David mc Callum recently and I think in last episode darkness if sapphire didn't look in box and silver got it the series would have carried on question is why happened to silver as most time lords like Docter who change everytime sapphire and steel didn't but great acting RiP David Mc Callum

With the 2004 reboot, director/producer enjoyed the improvements in computer generated imagery (no pun intended), but it's script was an incessantly perpetual psychosis of hyper religion based angst perpetrated by the organic "replicants" aka Cylons. Sadly the reboot force fed viewers to suffer through a script obsessed with the Cylons' faux religious dogma but the series overlooked a glaring fact that their faux religion was programmed into them (by the humans), thus the Cylons NEVER learned religion nor experienced it, because they're fake. This religious-freak bent ruined what could have been a brilliant Science Fiction that was already established in the original 70s series that focused on hope and the tenacity of the human spirit to survive.

DSV2/Liberator DID NOT have a Cloaking device!!! it had a "Force Wall" which acted similar to star wars deflector screens and was only effective for a limited time due to power requirements. the ships primary defence was its sheer speed at full power it could outpace most other ships in canon..

I read this series when I was a teen and loved it. Now I'm in my 70s and decided to read it again. I was surprised at the complexity of the storytelling and inventiveness which is a nice relief from modern sci-fi which tends to trot out the same old stories over and over but now mixed with gore and sex, which is not my cup of tea.

Wow AI, is that all you got in making the case for Blake’s 7 Liberator one of the most powerful space vessels of its size and type of all time? What about those Neutron blasters? One of those has OVER FIVE TIMES THE VOLUME OF THE ENTIRE VOLUME of the Constitution class USS Enterprise (if you hold to HMS London being 55m long). Lieutenant Chekhov once said of the Enterprise that one photo torpedo could destroy HALF continent! So, ONE of Liberators Neutron Blasters (‘Neutron Blasters Cleared for firing’ - Love that phrase) must be able to RIP A CHUNK OUT OF A MOON IF NOT A PLANET! And all three blasters must be able to render any populated planet uninhabitable if not TOTALLY DESTROYED - DEATH STAR STYLE. Even thought not ventured in the Blake’s 7 series Liberator was a PLANET BUSTER NO DOUDTS. Plus, the Herculanium hull - Toughest metal in that galaxy (I believe able to repel lazar fire with the force wall NOT ACTIVATED. Plus, was not the green globe power source housing some sort of STAR? Plus, did not the Liberator routinely leave the galaxy on several occasions? A feat so incredible to STAR TREK, they dedicate whole episodes to it. YUP, Liberator is such a refreshing departure from STAR TREK saucer section secondary hull or block spaceship design which has dominated Sci - Fi spaceship design over the last half century. Liberator is a good old British NUTS AND BOLTS creation, designed to enter the battle-space, with insurgency, espionage capability; provided THE TWO MOST POWERFUL GALACTIC COMPUTATIONAL constructs encountered by man - ZEN and ORAC; or just plain blast the opposition to smithereens with QUADRILLION FOLD NEUTRONIC ENERGY BEAM WEAPONS. If anything, like SUPERMAN, BLAKE’S 7’S THE LIBERATOR IS OVER POWERED EVEN FOR ITS HUGE 2000 FT SIZE, MAKING IT FOR ME THE BEST SPACE SHIP OF ALL TIME - ONLY ONE WEEKNESS THOUGH; WE NEVER GOT TO SEE HER MAKE PLANET FALL OR COMFORTABLE SUBMERGE BENEATH AN ALIEN OCEAN - THAT WOULD JUST BE TO MUCH FOR MY GEEKY LITTLE HEART TO TAKE. YOUR MOVE A.I. P.S. Liberator should never have been destroyed, but maybe lost down a black hole or something P.P.S. Amazing that the Liberator was an accidental design, now wonder it still looks good moving BACKWARDS!!!

I'm absolutely Everything you have said is correct, many believe that hovercraft as technology is obsolete, nothing could be further from the truth!The hovercraft were conceptualized under an idea that was very ahead of its time, with current technology the hovercraft have a great development ceiling, Today there are electronics and computing that can give hovercraft incredible capabilities. Excellent video.
