Put your thumb down the back of the neck in the middle of the shape you are forming. Also use the thumb to pivot across larger stretches.

As a classical guitar player who finished primary music school, then didn't play for 20 years and now picked up electric guitar, yeah, I'm not into thumb on neck due to classical training and my fingers are not what they used to be, Will take some practice. :)@@learnguitartheeasyway

I think I was using a Gary Moore patch with a Kemper Profiler in this tutorial. You don't need anything as fancy as that though. Just get your amp dialed in to 7 or so on gain and treble with some middle and bass, and add some reverb.

Hi, thanks for a very cllear and extensive lesson. I've been a fan of Rory since 1975, been in Ballyshannon Rory festival 3 times, and learned guitar ( only few years back) to play Rory's song. Your lesson will definitely help me to improve my play of Bad Penny 👍
