This was in 2016 im guessing when he was unstoppable, but if you think about it, federer and nadal having their 2017/18 run gave Djokovic extra motivation for his 2018 and beyond. If not for that happening, Djokovic would have caught them earlier and probably would have had the same state of mind he does now, but back in 2022/23

I don't think Novak is being humble. Nor should he be. He's saying the facts. Saying that he knows that Alcaraz can prove a challenge for an in form Novak. Getting acknowledgement from Novak means he considers Alcaraz a level above the rest. Rare Novak feels compelled to speak in such a complimentary manner. He clearly already respects Carlos. Hope to see more of these two playing for a long time.

Djokovic always makes excuses, which is fine as it is a quality of vicious competitors. But honestly, another year of healthy Alcaraz on tour, peak Djokovic will be no match… Djokovic is great player but he is not magic, he is just crazy consistent.

Courts were further slowed down in 2011. That’s why he won in 2011 for the first time. It was slowed down in 1996 or 1997 as well after the final between Pete and Goran because it was bombarded with aces at both ends
