Thank you for creating these! I love the personalization, and options to do more or less depending my mood, time or ability that day. I wish there were a bit more detail to explain why (other than just based on recent run activity), but I'm hoping that's to come in the future. I'd also love to see more training programs for ultra distances. It's hard to balance the time needed to train with effective regular workouts. I know that I can customize my own workouts, but guidance beyond marathons would be helpful here to better balance goals of building power while minimizing exertion for long periods of run time.

@AaronToponce4 күн бұрын
The running power model is a cumulative effort of you overcoming three fundamental resistances: running itself, hills, and air resistance. Heart rate is a response to those factors, not a resistance you are overcoming as a runner. It doesn't make any sense to factor in heart rate into the power model.

ANT+ RD pod channel is live now or will it be available later? What is the difference. Thanks
@Stryd4 күн бұрын
Thanks for your quesiton. The firmware update enabling ANT+ RD pod is available now via firmware version 2.1.31.19.12 for Next Gen Stryd & Stryd Duo.
@krzysztoftylek7874 күн бұрын
@@Stryd could you elaborate shortly what this change brings? The ant connection was available before if I am not mistaken. Thank you. Edit. I can see the separate connection after updating the firmware. The question remains. Should I connect now BOTH FP and RD pods or RD is sufficient for power and pace as well (I do not see the calibration settings in there so I presume the answer is both?) Thank you.
@stefankennedy4284 күн бұрын
It would be nice if the live run calibration factor could be increased beyond 1.1 for manual treadmills. It's documented in material from Stryd that the factor needs to be around 1.2, without this it means treadmill workouts are way off distance / pace. I've requested this for years but has been ignored.....
@Stryd4 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Stryd is accurate on standard, motorized treadmills - without calibration factor. Are you running on a manually powered, curved treadmill? Stryd has only been validated and tested on outdoor running conditions and on motorized treadmills. Stryd can still work great for non-motorized treadmills. A common technique used among members of the Stryd Community group is to adjust the weight setting on your Stryd upwards by 20%. A 20% increase in weight setting will cause your power to be 20% higher and result in a power value that is comparable for the same exertion.

Great, I just got a Stryd Duo a couple of weeks ago for FootPath and it turns out I just needed to wait to save a good chunk of money...
@jtsholtod.794 күн бұрын
I'd be interested in hearing Stryd's response in this, but there is still a major advantage, in my mind, with having Duo. I've been using it for a year now, and some of the biggest insights I've seen have been around how my legs differ, and closing major gaps. I'm sure there are ways that one pod might estimate things like L/R balance, GCT, oscillation and LSS by "filing in the gap", but the only way to truly measure two separate legs is to have two devices. But again, it's not clear in the video or their website exactly if and how all the metrics will be calculated with just one pod.

Thanks for your support of Stryd! Stryd Duo offers the advantage of monitoring both sides of the body with left/right metrics and left/right Stryd Footpath, over a single Next Gen Stryd pod. This left/right data can be invaluable to complete the picture of your run mechanics.

This is great insight! Being an elite runner I'm sure his form and pace are relatively consistent throughout, but I'm curious to know how the actual shoe performance differs in the middle and end of a long run versus the short initial tests done here that are then projected over a long run. In other words, does his body react differently 25k/50k/75k+ into the run based off the shoe characteristics, and do the same patterns hold throughout (i.e., does the comfort shoe ever reap benefits later on more than the plated shoe)?
@boudewijndekemp3162Ай бұрын
Great question, was wondering the same.

Thank you for your insightful comment! We additionally completed field tests in addition to the lab testing, and the results closely mirrored and confirmed what we saw in the lab. Specifically, the Deviate Elite 3 demonstrated superior stability, consistency, and superior LSS trends after more than an hour of running at race pace. The data supports benefits of these shoes hold and may become even relatively more pronounced later into this race.

@@StrydFascinating, a good example of lab and real life alignment! Curious if you've worked with athletes on the value of training in different types of shoes compared to race-day performance? If footpath analysis has a future (and I think it does) there needs to be more content like this to help us understand how to use this complicated and sophisticated data. Also helpful would be a library of example data that could be opened in Powercenter to benchmark and compare. A good comparison for the future of footpath might be to look at the historic evolution of EKG (or the more modern term ECG) analysis.

If Stryd is worn during the test, you could see at what power outputs the threshold is exceeded and how power maps to the results from the metabolic test.
