How could i do not see this game before? Fascinating stuff

Ng6 is beautifull because it allows the h pawn to capture on g6 and thus open up the line for the rook.

I mean, white has 4 pieces pointed in the same area, which wasn't very difficult to hone in on, at the same time the King literally cornered with his rook blocking an escape. It's actually kind of a gimmicky set up, to find a "clever" checkmate.

@15:00 why isn't c2 winning for black? if Kxa5, Rd1 wins material/guarantees promotion, and if Kxd8 I get the Rook back w/ Bxe1 and threat promotion

I think its wierd that Uhlman did not played his recomended move in his book against the tarrach wich is Nf6, instead of c5, also, whata fantastic game by Tal

@9:15 You were awfully fast with 22.Rd2 Qe7 23.Rf1! Instead of 23.Rf1 White could have a) simply won the exchange with Bc5 (if Black simply removed his Q anywhere) or b) after the counterattack 23... Qg5 24.Rad1 Rfd8 25.Rxd8 Rxd8 26.Rf1 Rd7 27.Bxb4 cxb4 28. Qxc6 White would be a pawn up (not 28. ...Rd2?? 29.Qe8+ Kh7 30.Rxf7+ Kh6 31.Qh8#).

Great game and great video! One question: at 5:14 you say that Qg4 is a computerish move. While I agree It's less natural than taking on g7, why do you think it's so unintuitive?
@sam_copelandАй бұрын
Good Q: I'm probably a bit biased because I know it's a computer move, but I think there's a strong inclination to DO something when I've saced and feel time is pressing. Qg4 is fairly patient which doesn't trouble computers, but I think almost any human choosing not to retake the piece would want to capture on g7 unless they see ...Nb4!!

GG Sam !! Thanks for sharing. Very cool attack with that opposite castling, always fun to see those ideas of claiming space early on :) I guess after g5-h4 he couldn't hope for more than a draw already.

Well, he can always hope I'll mess up, but it's certainly tough for him!

My opinion. Very well played Sam. Positionally, Black has collapsed like a house of cards. Black had no counterplay, that was his main problem. This also shows why c5 - c4 needs to be considered very carefully. Black had zero counterplay, that was the main problem. Congratulations on this positional win. And you are right, the black king must be on the queenside! The short castle of Black looks horrible to me. A very instructiv game! Please share more of your game!
@petersiegfriedkrugАй бұрын
But much more interesting than this position, which already is lost for Black is to explain the mistakes before what Kortschnoi made. Sam you should make another video with the whole game!
