The script only seems to run when there is an active internet connection. Otherwise it gets stuck analyzing the FL speaker. If I connect the network cable it runs normally. Is this an error in the script?
@ocaudiophile
@ocaudiophile 26 минут бұрын
No, script itself doesn't need a connection, needs only REW API started. But to use odd.wtf to transfer files, etc. you need a network connection.

90 cm is a bit too long (adds up to nearly 2m difference between some positions) but it's a choice. The distances shown work on a circular bases so don't worry about them. v1.4 polarity inversion indications can generate false positives. Try v1.5beta (it's in the download folder already though not yet released) which will get all polarities correctly and switch them if required unless you opt it not to.

So at this point, any adjustments we make post transfer to the AVR don’t actually change anything or we just shouldn’t based on the script’s findings? So if I lower the trim on a channel or reduce the bass from +10 to the changes are taking effect?

Hello and thank you for this incredible and in-depth explanation. I will try it in my new project studio. I wanted to ask you if, in your book, there’s any upside or downside of mixing different sized subs (12” vs 15”). Is there anything to do different than what you’ve demonstrated? Should I sell one vs the other, and why? Thanks again!!

OCA I am very sorry to ask before reading every question already (I tried) - I have a miniDSP Flex 2 subs connected to it directly, and 2 active monitors plugged into it directly. No AVR. When I create the coefficients EQ at the end here, which subwoofer do I upload it to in the PEQ screen of the miniDSP config? Sub 1, Sub 2 or both? Also I assume I need to put in the sub delay into nominally the sub I chose to perform the cross correlation.
@ocaudiophile
@ocaudiophile 8 сағат бұрын
One set of PEQ for the summation of 2 subs is the usual practice and MiniDSP must have a set of PEW that runs on both together. The delay you find should be applied to either the first or the second sub depending on the sign of it as MiniDSP cannot apply negative delays.
@thisrocks
@thisrocks 8 сағат бұрын
@@ocaudiophile Thanks for the prompt response! I have uploaded the singular PEQ biquad coefficient file into one of the subs and then linked that PEQ channel with the other sub channel. That's my interpretation of what you have written.

I read the Denon manual again. If the front speakers are set to large, all frequencies are passed on to the speaker. The Front Crossover 200Hz setting confused me. This means that the subwoofer also reproduces all frequencies from the front speakers below 200Hz. So everything is fine. Great work, version 1.4 sounds fantastic :-)

1.4 - doesn't report that my speakers are out of phase anymore. I had clicked the ignore out of phase option but maybe something in the algorithm changed? A few questions for when you have time OCA. 1 - I thought the sub was running a little too hot at +8.5db under 1.3 so manually set to +6.5db via the web control. Ran 1.4, transferred everything to the receiver expecting the +8.5db as per the 1.4 log, but the receiver reports +6.5db still. Everything else appears to match the log, so was curious why it had not changed the sub setting. 2 - My front 3 channels give this message - required several additional attempts to be properly aligned to MLP due to strong HF reflection content in its IR! Could you possibly explain what this is please and how I might mitigate this if it's an issue? Thanks again - still can't quite believe what you've achieved here and your work over the Christmas period has been unexpected - 4 releases in less than a week.

Hello together on the last day of 2024. Its so great what you have done here! THX for such a great work! Here is my feedback to the finally working version 1.4 on my denon receiver: My 2 Subwoofers working as one, now. Did the oca-File delete the directed setting? Bevore Neuron the setting was directet to Left and right speakers to avoid possible overturn or beeing to slow in stress mode like electronic music. I understand to less about the difference of neuron or this frequeny filters - if its better like this,now. The There is also no distance-mesurement (or calculation) for my second subwoofer. To go further, the bass is a bit to low or less "punchy" as with audyssey. But not everywhere. In some music-tracks or at Dolby Atmos is quite fine...but at XBox-Gaming (Star Wars - Jedi Survivor) it feels like "without the force". Maybe in 2025 it will be possible to increase the Bass (specially that "kickin") a bit? Next thing is, that i get a Message from my Receiver while looking in Manual settings: It told me that some of the Distances have no possible (or correct) values. I hope this will not have any bad effect. One strange thing is, that some Music-tracks and dolby atmos demos lead to pain in my ears. This wasn´t before and i had this problem a few years ago with wrong set speakers...and booming. But maybe this can be fixed with a bit finetuning in the manual setting of my receiver. Overall and in direct comparsion to audyssy (and ignored that audyssey overboosted all Surround- and Back-Speakers by allmost 10dB) Neuron sounds more "old school" or less digital...almost a bit more dully. But realy just a little little bit. Finally on big question remains: If i just boost the Bass-dB manually in my receiver, what will happen? Will it destroy the calculation of neuron and effekt other frequencies (to boost or lower them) or is it easy to use? Thx and a happy new year

v1.2 SW effect is very nice, you can feel it, the couch is shaking, soundstage is detailed v1.3 SW effect, the couch is not shaking anymore, soundstage is detailed but somehow feels to be more in the back than 1.2 v1.4 SRA is now detected as inverted and it is not. this is the first version that detects a speaker inverted - false. FR and FL are set to 150hz while with 1.3 are Main + LFE, Pair efficiency is 60% while with 1.3 are at 100%. bass it's a bit "boomy", feels not clear, not as deep as v1.2 soundstage if compared to 1.2 and 1.3 feel in the middle, for my tase i like the 1.2 stage more. It's not a problem, these efficient scores are not directly related to frequency response. In simple terms, that means they are not under the curve at any checked frequency (probably they are too close to a wall and have boundary gain). Still, having the same 100Hz for both is a good thing and should sound good. Make sure you run with v1.4

With sub measurements you can ignore that warning (it's related to beyond 250Hz low output from sub vs room noise), with speakers, you should adjust your mic gain, measurement volume, etc to avoid it.

HI OCA. After using the version 1.3, large difference in settings then with Nexus. No lisening test yet, wanted to catch your opinion: - Audyssey used "Flat" as preset, but i had "Reference" before. Does it take the preset that was set in the AVR, or from the reference ady file? - LFE+Main with 150hz - Front Speakers are large, rest is small (Atmos setup) - Fronts with 120hz, rest with 80 to 100hz - Subwoofer now level on 0db. Difference in Crossover is very different by my fronts (left one is in the corner, both in front of a wall). So i think it makes sense?

Ok NOW we are talking! this v1.3, even though it still chooses 250hz for my front and center crossovers, actually sounds a LOT better than the other versions.

Yes very nice v1.3. But i also have the crossover at 250Hz for my realy big fronts Nubert Nuvero14. my small surrounds have crossover at 60 or 80Hz - so i wonder why the big fronts are crossed already at 250Hz? strange...or is it a positive feature?

Can A1 Evo Nexus be made simpler? I have used A1 Evo and the effect is very good, making the sound very pleasant. However, the operation of A1 Evo Nexus is very complicated. From the video, it may be limited by the video clarity. Although I have used 4k, it is still difficult to understand the operation steps. Can you give me a simple process or tutorial so that I can use A1 Evo Nexus?

You are right that I should do a REW video soon. Maybe try Neuron in the mean time with your Audyssey measurements.

@@ocaudiophile It would be great if it could be as simple as the A1 Evo Maestro MJ. I hope the tutorial for the A1 Evo Nexus can clearly tell us what to do in the first step, what to do in the second step, and what to do in the end. Most people can succeed by following the video content and then enjoy the shock that the A1 Evo Nexus brings us.

Multi sub works great - but if I tick "Avoid sub polarity inversion" then it forces the mains to large. I have tried "FL": [80], //Left & Right pair and also Force small fronts If selected, front speakers will NOT be set to 'Large / Full range.' but it still sets the mains to large. Problem is it either forced me to have to invert 2 of the subs (which I would rather not to have to do physically as this means I can't switch profiles as easily) or run the mains as large (I would like them set to 80hz but you have advised that it should be done in the script) Any Ideas?

That's 150Hz lowpass filter applied to subwoofer which plays together with your fronts which play full range!

This old retired FORTRAN programmer was thinking if could make a version where the script knows that the subwoofer sweeps come from MiniDSP2x4, for example, and @the end would provide all the filters for both the MiniDSP and for the AVR. My 2¢.

Unless you have more subs that your sub outputs in the receiver, you can ditch that mini ;) It's in my plans to release something for multisub MiniDSP settings though.

What would that help? OCA uses Audyssey as same kind of a frame - the calculations are done by him in conjungtion with REW. I really cannot see how a dirac version would be any helpful?

@@carstenc3582Because I also have a receiver which doesn't have audyssey, it uses dirac and I don't manually do the measurements in rew, I import the data from audyssey, so being able to do that with the dirac receiver would be helpful to me.

In the video you are using 256kMeasSweep_0_to_24000_0_dBFS_48k_Float_L_refR, but in the Drive folder we got 256kMeasSweep_0_to_24000_-12_dBFS_48k_Float_R_refL. It's -12dBFS and FloatR_refL, not 0dBFS and FloatL_refR. Can you help me with this problem?

You are right, they were changed after the video but YT doesn't let you edit videos. Use -12dB with comfort and FL as reference. The sweeps are now set that way. Also don't forget to try the new Neuron with your REW measurements.
