Ok it is 30” x 40” so 76cm x 101cm. The squares are 7 wide by 9 long. The beauty of this pattern is that you can make it any dimensions you want and in any yarn. You could make it square rather than rectangular too- it’s all up to you.

Unfortunately I think I'm being a bit stupid 😞. I've tried a sample of this using 32 stitches which is 4 repeats of 7 stitches plus 4. @@marilyncookson7397 I think it’s supposed to be repeats of 4 plus 3 plus 4 stitches for the edge stitch so a cast on of 31 stitches would have been ideal, 32 is 1 too many stitches. 4x6=24 +3=27 +4=31

I noticed that these techniques don’t actually follow the path of one strand of yarn, but instead attach one row to the one beside it. Don’t you find this affects the vertical elasticity of the piece?
@patternandcraft17 күн бұрын
@@jeancarter7732 I don’t notice an issue since it’s only worked over a short span - one could take the time to follow the exact path of the yarn but in that case I would worry then that you’re basically doubling the thickness of each stitch as if you knit with a double strand of yarn so would be more noticeable, and it would take longer and be more difficult to do - but you could definitely try it and see which you prefer. I’ve also seen ends woven in diagonally (I saw after I made my video, otherwise I would have included that too) which could maybe be better for maintaining the elasticity rather than working between rows. There’s many options and techniques available to try, and some may be better suited to some projects than others.

Does this only work with garter stitch? What should we do if we're knitting stockinette flat?
@patternandcraft18 күн бұрын
it works with stockinet but it does still curl, so it makes a nice edge but does not eliminate the curling that stockinet tends to have at the edges.
@patternandcraft18 күн бұрын
@@latitude1904 actually… so I just tested something out… if you add 1 purl stitch right after the edge stitch at the start and just before the edge stitch at the end for the right (knit) side, and 1 knit stitch right after the edge stitch at the start and just before the edge stitch at the end for the wrong (purl) side of your flat stockinet then it creates a beautiful edge that does not curl, but it is no longer identical front to back. The front looks the same as the normal edge stitch does because that single purl stitch basically disappears on the front, but on the back side you’ll have the slip stitch edge plus the knit stitch so it looks different on the back, a bit wider.
