Yes, going to the gym does help and also journaling so you're doing the right thing. But don't give up on antidepressants or seeking professional help. I hear you and understand. A few years ago, I had a major life change that brought on depression. The gym also helped along with daily exercise walks while listening to music. But that wasn't enough. I fought going on antidepressants for a year until I finally said I've got to do something. After I got on Lexapro it helped tremendously and all I can say is I can't believe I didn't do this sooner! No big side effects and I'm still the same person just without depression. I didn't catch if you currently have a partner but if so, I hope they're understanding and I feel you have a very loving family too. I think when you're 30 you'll look back and think, wow, I went through some rough times mentally but things are great now and life is good!
