Marx guy here, no Marx at show, disappointing maybe?
@betsy66223 күн бұрын
Honestly I don't know, there's usually a little bit of Marx, it's got following, even in our area, Lionel has a huge following, then we have our HO buddies, but today's show had more to do about getting all of us out of our hurricane depression and helping get us all past the storms we've had to deal with for the last few weeks, I don't think anyone was worried about making money on this show

What assets do you use to get the table, bench, walls and floors etc.
@betsy6622 ай бұрын
I had learned how to work the terrain in such a way that, I was able to do that to create the table top, as for the other assets, some came from the DLS and others came from Jointed Rail.

Marx guy here, any good buys on used O gauge in the junk boxes? I buy parts on E-bay and build from there. There isn`t much R/R activity happening in PLunkerville, New Hampshire. I`m not the guy to ask for high tec. advice, for I`ve not advanced beyond 1960.

I can generally find some pretty decent deals with my friend there, who sells a lot of O gauge stuff, of course the pristine stuff gets full price treatment, but that is everywhere, but I tend to look for stuff that needs fixing up a little, and can get really good deals that way!

Many deals to be had . . . the myth the hobby is so expensive is only accurate for those that are lazy. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
@betsy6622 жыл бұрын
That is very true, of course the super big shows like the Greatest Hobby shows or the RPM shows always have lots of manufacturers and big time dealers, I find the smaller shows tend to have the regular hobbyists and guys just trying to get rid of the stuff they don't use any longer, now for the beginners, that is a totally different story, as they are starting from scratch and don't have a clue about scratch building, sadly even our local train store doesn't sell the parts or the scratch building supplies!

I had the missing textures, too. I think most come from the BN Legacy II route from JR, which I don't have. I'm not going to pay $35 for a few textures in a route I'll never use, so I'm replacing them also. It's not that hard. I'm also using a lot of turf-tex grass, which this route is made for. It softens some of those ancient grass splines used throughout. How did you generate the AI train? I can't find a portal anywhere.
@betsy6622 жыл бұрын
I looked for them, some folks don't bother putting them in, not a problem really since the staging area is so large on each end, I simply just loaded two trains, nothing was set up for AI, I started by using the "get" feature in the paint section, and just started working with the textures that are already there, then I used the copy and paste tool to fill in the rest of the needed textures, so the route at least looks presentable!

I didn't know Clovis got updated and that's awesome! I modified my own, but it's unfortunately distroyed by not backing up before a PC problem I had last month which I had to reset it. At least I made one video of my session on my channel. I can agree with you on the model railroading part since I cannot do actual model railroading at the moment (6x8 O gauge in a small room). Also, not only I like American trains in different eras, but I also enjoy doing German and British stuff as well since the scale model versions are harder to get than their North American counterparts.
@betsy6623 жыл бұрын
I have always been a north American modeler myself, but I can certainly understand if you like trains from Europe or Japan, or even Australia, when I first started playing in Trainz, I did play on a few of the European routes, and even on a Japanese route once, that is something I would have never done in the world of plastic, zamac and brass, I would have stuck with one or two prototypes and never went beyond that, so the train simulators do provide a chance to go around the world without having to spend a fortune, and Trainz allows you to do it with a software that is much more user freindly!
