How about sampling local radio and making an entire track with chops and vocals?
@whatsthatnoisee15 күн бұрын
Idea is good but in my case it would be difficult to execute. My local radio is garbage! I'm clearly picking up only 3 stations... In the 2 of them is mostly talk and playing 4 trashy pop songs on repeat. And the third one is classical music so just fishing for good samples would take me ages. And another thing is that the video would have to be heavily edited to avoid copyright infringement and flagging. But the concept is good. I might try do it in the future, make a beat and then break it down in a KZbin video. Thanks 👍

Where are the OSC tune and fine tune ? 🤨. I realize this engine stacks OSC with detuning under one control but both these (ACD &FAT) engines you cover seem to not offer fine tuning?? (do you have to sacrifice and input micro tune step fx on everything if you're not playing 440hz? Geez .OCS tunings are absolutely core VIP on any synth) do tell me that tuning options are somewhere to be found.🙏 Thx!
@whatsthatnoisee22 күн бұрын
Tune, fine tune and detune is available in VAP. In WTFM you also have fine tune but tune is replaced by "ratio" because it's an FM engine. VAP offers the typical 2 OSC subtractive synth options with mix and sync options for example. But each of 2 OSC have their own envelope and LFO. WTFM offers feedback instead. Each engine is different and the last 2 are way more advanced than ACD or FAT. So no, you don't have to sacrifice step FX for tune or fine tune but only if you'll use VAP or WTFM. I'll try to demonstrate it in the next video. Thanks for the message!

How’s it going ? Once again amazing job on verselab vids. im using song mode to record synths using vocal track, for some reason in the sequence mode the transition isn’t smooth. There’s a clip sound that happens when my recorded synths goes to the next section. Would you happen to know why ?
@whatsthatnoisee2 ай бұрын
I assume that problem occurs when you playback recorded samples on other than vocal track. On vocal track it should be smooth because it's timeline not grid based and not affected by pattern changes. But more likely your sample isn't clear on the start or end of the sample (not in 0 position during transition to another clip). If that's the case you could try to edit the start or end point of the sample, or adjust the envelope on attack and release.

@whatsthatnoisee2 ай бұрын
The original sounds are in Verselab by default. You can also download sound packs from Roland Cloud and just copy/paste to your SD card. Or create/edit your own with Zenology Pro and save as yours. I made a wideo about it as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZXZq2WdmJuFb8ksi=Qr0HqGrGL2l0rZ-R

Thanks for the content! Quick question! I'm thinking of buying a Verselab, but Im hesitant since one can use it with zenbeats and it complements as a screen, I feel like using the Zenbeats alone it's enough and the verselab ending up being an expensive controller. What do you think about it?
@whatsthatnoisee2 ай бұрын
It all comes down to the workflow and question... Do you really need it or do you just want it? I ask myself the exact question every time because budget is a thing unfortunately. But Verselab is way more than just an expensive controller for sure, it's really close to the "studio in the box" description taking into account that it can serve also as an audio interface with phantom power and you can directly record separate tracks as steams including line in or built in microphone. I assume that you are already using Zenbeats as your DAW so you can find a great MIDI controller with more macro controls as well for much less but the problem with MIDI controllers is that they don't hold the resale value at all! It also depends on what type of music you want to make because chopping samples on it is really bad and controlling other external gear through MIDI is limited to 7 channels at the expense of your tracks. In conclusion I would say go for it if you want to use it more as a standalone groovebox with some occasional assistance of DAW. If you're looking for some good controller to your DAW and you don't want to sacrifice the big screen then you could probably find something better for this role. You can also check my other videos with Verselab and Zenbeats integrated to have a better look at what it can or can't do. Thanks

Good point! I have a hybrid setup (couple of hardware synths, being sequenced in Ableton) I do jams and structured songs, both that way. I want something that I can use anywhere in my apartment or even In a coffee shop. Having said that I don't need it to be honest, but I want to have a machine for using outside of my regular setup. My brother how are you doing. I have a question. What does that workflow look like on the MV-1 when you connect the machine on a laptop or a pc. Not a tablet, but a laptop or a pc. I'm curious.
@whatsthatnoisee3 ай бұрын
To answer that I would recommend you to watch another of my videos called "Roland Verselab MV-1 - MIDI controller for DAW". Verselab can be easily used as a midi controller and audio interface. Fully featured so you can control plugins in your DAW, life record steams from each Verselab tracks separately including stereo/mono input channel. It's pretty powerful. The only thing to keep in mind is that in Verselab Editor you don't have a vocal track to edit but a regular DAW fix it for you.

You can do it this way, as long as you have set input to (line) in Verselab it will come across on your output in Verselab. That's what I did. I downloaded sound packs for MV-1 to my harddrive and SD in Verselab but in addition I slightly altered some sounds from Zenology Pro sound packs to my custom sound bank and exported it as mine. As long as you have saved your pack in the right file format Verselab and other Zenology compatible gear will be able to read it.

When I got zenbeats going with MV 1, I was blown away. This setup made it really great for me, even better than MPC one. I got adventuresome and tried the same setup with other DAWS. It worked great with Mixcraft 10, Bitwig 5, Studio One 5, and Ardour so far. These other DAWs offer way better audio editing and sample tools. I'll try it with Maschine and MPC studio next. Again this box is a power house. Thanks for the videos keep them coming.

What made you choose verselab vs other gear like the mc707? Im about to jump on a verselab, but I'm debating if i should save more for an akai force or mc707.
@whatsthatnoisee8 ай бұрын
What convinced me to Verselab is the song mode and mic capabilities. I do rap sometimes so it was ideal to create songs from start to finish without even looking at the computer. I was looking for self-contained unit as a centre piece of my studio. So far I'm not disappointed but if you are more into live performance, sound design or chopping samples then 707 is a way better option. Chopping samples on MV-1 will give you nothing but a headache. 707 is limited in terms of mic recording and doesn't have song mode but you have a full zenology engine at disposal so pros and cons like with everything. I can't comment on Akai force because I never touched it but I've heard that is pretty powerful (especially after some years of updates). I'll make another video probably next week with Verselab controlling DAW and other gear so ask me anything and I'll try to include it in my upcoming video. Thanks
