Very useful. I wish this was a step my step narrated video.nit would be much longer but I am not experienced enough to understand everything your doing. I need this.

That’s excellent. I’ve been through the headache of “ghost improvements” (“I have no idea…”) I really enjoyed your troubleshooting. Good logic. You could replace that post it note with a $135 official tool and would have gotten the same feedback. That had to feel really good!

I have a question. I have hollywood junipers. When we cut the branches so we have to put a sealant to prevent wood rot or termintes? on our old ones it can get termites on the cuts, but is that just on bad cuts? Does a smooth cut get termites?

A good question for an arborist. I'm just a dude pruning Hollywood junipers to make them look pretty.

Nice! I was thinking that expanding foam can help increase weight capacity by doing this right? I’m a few pounds over the limit on this kayak; but I have expandable foam and foam board 😂
@javawriter2 ай бұрын
Cool. Yeah I've researched expanding foam--the awesome x30 stuff from tap plastics etc/-- and concluded it's too costly to fill a big area. BUT it would work to break up chunks of cheap solid foam, fill a bunch of the good, then seal with expanding foam at the last.

Next year I'm hoping to get funds together to buy a better kayak. The seat back was most of my struggle. Without having to deal with that, I think I would have just rolled into my seat... 1-2-3. Great practice and success! Thank you, John.
@javawriter2 ай бұрын
Yeah, totally agree with you! The impact of that seat was stunning. Such a setback. And you know how much I love how Pungos glide that it's sad there's yet another count against it that I didn't know till this practice. Yet, even with the complication presented by the boat, you overcame. For $10, you can get some decent thick paracord for adding perimeter lines you could actually grab. I'm amazed you made do without them :-)

I like your fish line leader. I didn't have fish line, but I had some old click pens. I took the spring from the click pen and tangled the end of the bungee or perimeter line in one end of the spring and the other end was narrow and stiff enough to lead through the cleats, even for the bungees.

@@javawriterahh I was thinking I just got a pelican kayak and mine doesn’t have this just styrofoam under the seats
@javawriter4 ай бұрын
You willing to do a test and come back here with your observations? At the shore, tilt your Pelican and completely fill it with water. Now move away from shore a bit where it's still safe yet lift your feet off the ground and see whether the Pelican has enough buoyancy to hold you up--even better, can you climb onto it? The scenario is that you are out in the middle of a lake and fallout, and the boat fills up with water. How comfortable would you actually be with the pelican, with its current amount of buoyancy you paddle it back to shore if it had all that water?

Good idea! I laid shredded cheese in a honey pan and melted it. Then I broke an egg on it and let it heat up a bit. Then I folded the edges of the cheese over the egg. Eventually I flipped the mass. Repeated till browned.
