Much to my surprise I have got to the final interview stage at a firm. I was shocked when I got to assessment centre, so even more so when I received my final interview invitation. I only have about 4 days to prepare, any last minute tips or advice?

Essay subjects are highly recommended, but not any subject in particular. Most people take english literature, history, politics and stuff like that

Hi i have a quick question about when you mentioned conflict of interest if you had also got an offer for a training contract at a diffenent fir at 4:30 . I thought that training contracts would be full time so you would have to quit your paralegal job anyway, not like a vacation scheme which are usually 1-2 weeks long. Is that true? I was a bit confused. Thanks

The 13 year old you may have dreamed of becoming a Solicitor but, she did not know at the time the extent of the difficulties that come with it. Just as you said, becoming a Solicitor is an extraordinary achievement in itself, it takes bravery to face the feelings you had and make the change you needed. I know that if you were able to sit down with 13 year old you today and tell her your story, she would be proud 🩷

Thank you so much Simran, you have helped me so much with my legal career and Ive met you a couple of times at various networking events. last year my legal career took a complete 360. I lost a really amazing TC at a top London law firm because I failed my SQE by 1%. I was devastated, and started thinking about my whole career, a career in law has a funny way of consuming your whole life, and I was thinking I that I gone too deep into it now to turn back... I HATED going on linkedin and I was so embarrassed posting that I am no longer a "future Trainee soliciter at X". But, I am now paralegalling again but in house, in a company which I never thought I would be in, and I am loving it. Whilst Im not planning on being there long-term and hopefully I can retake my SQE exam again next year, but at the moment It's just realising that your career doesnt always go the way you think it will, but Im a big beliver that everything happens for a reaon <3

Wow, this is incredibly inspirational! I am so glad we have met in person - I'd love to continue this conversation again at another event, so please keep an eye out for me. I'm so sorry the SQE result meant it didn't go your way, but this is such a good example of how it's enabled you to experience something you otherwise would not have. I'm so proud of you!

hey lovely, youre not a failure at all. it's like how you see many doctors who become disillusioned when they actually start practising outside of medical school despite loving the stuff they studied etc. it's normal and shows so much courage and honouring of your authentic self, rather than live in fear and settle in something you dont enjoy just because you're scared you wont find something else. happy for you!

Simran! I just want to say how incredibly brave and authentic it is of you to share this. You are not a failure for changing paths-it takes so much strength to pivot when something doesn’t feel aligned anymore, even when it’s something you once dreamed about. Every chapter of your journey-being a lawyer and now moving into DE&I-adds to the incredible person you are, and your story will inspire so many people who feel stuck or afraid to make a change. You’ve already impacted so many lives (mine included), and this next step will be no different. Please be kind to yourself-you’re doing something amazing by embracing what’s right for you. Sending so much love your way. 💛

You are not a hypocrite you just moved forward towards what you are called to do… your journey to you to where you are. I’m in the middle of the sqe and trust me it’s rough. But I left a job I was earning well because it felt dull and empty and I decided to leave and take my time to first pass then find the right position. Life too short to sit there and pretend as long as the title is there…. You are still very accomplished and able x

Im proud of you, I have been following you and I know how you felt, I also passed my Lpc in London with commendation, although which came to my surprise I could not even get a legal assistant job, legal secretary, not even talking about paralegal position in England. I then moved to another country ( my homeland) and currently working as legal officer in commercial law firm, I have been working long hours, I do not exercise, I do not have time for hobbies, I work on weekends, when I dont work Im thinking of work and stressing about it. I also need a break cause Im at a breaking point, I feel miserable. Im about to give my resignation letter. I know the feeling of being so busy that you cannot even get out of spiral and you make yourself believe that things will not get better. Ah, your video gave me some hope that there is a light somewhere and I need to get out of this ❤
