The statements the old man makes can be deemed to be noble under the presumption that drugs are inherently bad. Many people use drugs and are perfectly fine. Many people can use drugs and be in great detriment. Such is life with all things. Not to mention that alcohol is perfectly legal in singapore and it constantly ruins lives. Does this mean alcohol should be illegal too? Drugs are not the problem, the education and rehabilitation programs are the problem. People shouls be able to use a substance they choose if in the end they understand the risks it poses. This is a draconian and ridiculous law to uphold when the issue can be vast such as mental health problems, life struggles, etc, that causes these issues in the first place. Ridiculous.
