The only thing I don't love about the Guzzi's is the rear brake and the gear shift lever look the same. I want my brake peddle to have a little more meat to it...and not look like the shifter. It's a nit-picky thing. I had a V7 for a while. They're great bikes.

I had a 75 JPS here in Iowa the front wheel come up effortlessly on the 1st to 2nd shift like all 850s and with a bit of slipping the 2nd to 3rd shift as well , tested by Iowa State Patrol Radar we did 2 runs top speed , I got 158 and my buddy the Patrol officer got 160 , he was 6 foot 9 and I think he filled the fairing better blocking out the gap and drag , a few years later Honda advertised the Hurricane as the fastest production Motorcycle in history at 159 mph , I kept mine about 5 years mostly as a living room bike but let it go for a down payment on a house .......... Thanks Keith

I didn't know about these until I saw one on Jay Leno's Garage a few years ago. I've heard you use the word "rakey" a couple times. I know what rake is, but what does rakey mean?
@forgottenmotorcyclesКүн бұрын
For me that means the angle of the front fork is excessive...far from straight up and down. Generally making the bike bike feel unstable at lower speeds. Beautiful machine!

I am surprised that single fixing primary cover with separate rudder seal didn’t catch on on other bikes and cases. Maybe some would need two or three fixings because you can’t always put one in the middle.

@forgottenmotorcyclesКүн бұрын

@stanwbakerКүн бұрын
@@forgottenmotorcycles So this thing is in a tradition from India, with the cloned diesel engine and so forth. As I suspect you know, Enfield themselves released a diesel Bullet in response to this phenomenon. Not to mention that someone across the years had the gall to import an E.I. Bullet before RE was up and running on this continent. It's a wonderful thing. The horns (are they horns?) are concerning but I suspect it's an enchanting solution once revealed.

It is amazing what the Wiseco pistons do for the RE 650s; the 83.5mm give it close to 60hp (my 2020 Interceptor) and the 90mm pistons give it high 60's, usually around 68hp. It becomes an entirely different motorcycle with an increase of between 30-45 percent additional horsepower and torque.

The engines have been Shineray (sold as SWM), recently, or Lifan historically. Honda moved production of the Brazilian designed and invulnerable CG150 [sic] to Vietnam about 1983 and within a year it was being produced (without the capitalist pig notion of licensing, of course) throughout the then-Communist world. Let's just say before 1989 or so, local engineers reworked that engine for even greater durability in environments where parts were scarce and maintenance largely disallowed. Something about a bunch of guys going "up against the wall" if the factory produces too many crappy engines inspires durability. The public face of Janus is confoundingly available. Mr. Worsham would be available to answer your questions, and may even be the person who answers the phone. If this machine makes your dingle tingle, I recommend a sojourn to Greater South Bend, Indiana (the RV capital of the world) to visit Janus (call ahead for an appointment) and the RV/MH Hall of Fame in nearby Elkhart.
