Fab book, Andrew, thank you. I've done the Wales Coast Path, I'm now totally hooked. I have just started the England Coast Path as I'm lucky enough to live near the start/ finish on the Welsh border in the north West of England. Got so excited when I saw the way marker posts and new Path being constructed near where I live. I'm so limited with time though so I'll probably be finishing it on a zimmer😂

The Ridgeway in just six and a half minutes? You are not doing this fine ancient road any justice. If you cannot produce a worthwhile video about this long distance route, don't bother at all.

Hi. I'm sorry I missed the live recording, but I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with it today. I walked the Cordillera Huayhuash in 1985, as it happens at exactly the same time that the acident depicted in Touching the Void was happening. While you were talking I was following on the sketchy maps I had at the time. I would love to have a proper map. Please could you give me details of the one you used. I went with a commercial company, so took 13 days, which included 2 rest days. It was also a longer route as we started from and returned to Chiquian. It was August and we had mixed weather, with some rain and some snow, but still amazing views of the spectacular mountains. It was a magical trip, though I did need to take Diamox, as I had some difficulties with the altitude, but once on Diamox, I was completely fine. We were lucky enough to experience a festival at Llamac on our way back, which was fantastic, as were the many condor sightings, and vicuna. I was going to send some images of people to show the way they dressed, but of course I went in pre digital times and my photos are prints! My walking these days is not quite so strenuous, but after all this time a trip to South Anerica is planned for November, to Patagonia this time. Thanks for sharing your trip, it brought back great memories. Sally

Well, I've used the first three chapters of this book and it is not without its problems. Here are some examples. On page 48, lines 3 and 4 of the route description, where it says "take the smaller road on the right", there is no road, it's a path. This was the first instruction I followed on the ground and it didn't inspire much confidence! On page 40, it's says "Cross the Gabalfa bridge". How are you supposed to know the names of bridges if you're a stranger to the area? I missed this, and people on the towpath I asked couldn't identify a bridge with this name. On Page 59 where it says keep 50-100 metres from the boundary, it would have been helpful to point out some landmarks- you pass a large farmhouse on the right and a mast on the left. The endless compass directions without any other instruction such as "bear half left" are very tiresome. It would be better to say something like "bear half left" and give the compass direction in brackets. The compass directions are even given for roads in towns e.g. on page 79 on leaving Crickhowell. Don't think I'm not appreciative of the book, but I feel it could have been even better.

Hi, having done the Offa's Dyke Path in 2019 over 12 consecutive days, I'm currently doing the WCP in small increments as separate day walks and have got as far as Llanfairfechan. I am enjoying it. As a Christian I find walking is great therapy for the soul. I find the Cicerone books very informative but for my day walks I rewrite by hand every bit of the books guidance. Firstly, I don't have to keep putting my glasses on because I write it out in larger print and secondly I 'take in' what I'm reading when I write things out. I even sketch the maps, though not brilliantly. Mad isn't it! Are there any major differences to the new updated book? I only bought this copy 3 months ago. Thank you Paddy and Cicerone for putting these aids in place. Keep up the good work.

Hi Ian, thanks so much for your message. We're so glad that you enjoyed the event! And that's some serious dedication, copying out the guidebook by hand! There are a few differences in the new guide, some route updates and changes to accommodation/travel information etc. Have you come across our New for Old Scheme before? It's an offer we run whereby customers can buy a new edition of a guidebook that they already have for 50% off. You can visit cicerone.co.uk/offers to find out more. All the best, Louise

Cicerone continues to inspire and aid us. They've assisted me for 20yrs. I'm in the process of buying all the maps for a through hike of the 2,300km GR5. My name isn't Dom O by the way, it's a cheeky reference to the Latin word domo - 'At home'. I hike and travel full-time, but feel 'at home' with my map, compass and Cicerone guidebooks. Thank you!

Cicerone Are the Best! We've used their guides for cycle tours of the Moselle and Rhine Rivers and are planning a trip using Mike's Rhone Guide for later in 2022. The guides are surprisingly comprehensive for pocket/handlebar bag-sized books and have accompanying GPX files to help with the printed map sections. We do our tours on an S&S-equipped tandem which knocks down into two luggage-sized cases. It's analog -not an ebike -so we don't have the transport constraints of ebike batteries and all we have to worry about is shipping the cases to the end of our ride. The video discussion starting at 18:20 relating to transporting ebikes is of growing importance for those owners seeking to take their ebikes on long distance trains (a challenge!) or aircraft (forbidden!). Pay close attention to rules relating to batteries and the spaces inside for storing bicycles. Your very heavy ebike may be a real challenge if the carriage only has vertical hooks for hanging.
