I came here to watch this because I was completely blown away by the costumes on Rings of Power. I was particularly gobsmacked by the Harfoots' elaborate camouflage. In the first scene where you see them emerging from the grasslands on the hillside, I was in awe!!!

This was some really cool stuff, I wish behind-the-scenes featurettes showed off more of the costume design in movies.

We just watched Trains Planes and Automobiles and after talking about where they got the clothes from etc I saw the costume designer was someone by the name of April Ferry. Sadly, I've also discovered she died just a little earlier this year 😞 She seemed lovely and worked on so many of my favourite films! RIP, April 🌹

Absolutely inspiring master class. It teaches costume designers and fashion designers in general to be humble and always open to new learning. Thank you CDG for this free master class available to everyone.

Glad I found this. Costume design found me "late" in life. I just turned 30 and I've always been drawn to the art. I plan to enroll in a costume design school and hopefully pick up on some sewing classes. Also just working in wardrobe styling is good enough for me! Ruth E. Carter is a huge inspiration for me, her films are legendary.

FYI, they misspelled my name, but that always happens! It’s Dorothy Bulac-Eriksen. I thought I would marry into an easier name, but the Danish ‘Eriksen’ always throws them for a loop.

Her costumes for The Phantom of the Opera, 2004, were some of her absolute WORST. It was as if she had been told to make Christine appear like a dress-up Disney doll. Two of the weakest choices: the Think of Me gown which has nothing to do with the Hannibal opera at all - just a "pretty" dress copied from a portrait of Elizabeth of Austria. Then there's the tragic Don Juan Triumphant ensemble. Basically, let's dress Christine as a slut. If only she'd taken the lead from Maria Brjornson's iconic stage costumes. They were thoroughly researched and accurately reflected how 19th Century opera costumes looked. What a lost opportunity. But the WORST design choice was her decision to do the Masquerade costumes in black and white. FFS - we've seen all that done (brilliantly) before in My Fair Lady. Zzzzzzzzzzz boring.

Her designs in this movie definitely should have won the academy that year! You should’ve asked her about the white mermaid dresses during the “dreamgirls” number. As a child I remember being mesmerized by the way the tail of the gowns waved as they’re walking to the mic.
