Why is the handle so short?
@zippy1981dotnet
@zippy1981dotnet Жыл бұрын
Ok it's a hewing hatchet then. It was the length of the wood I had and the badly fitted handle that was on it was a short handle. So I don't know what the intention was but in my head it was always a one handed axe.

Nope it's on the right way super sure about that.. Might not be an axe meant to be hung on a "scout axe" handle.

I think if that were a sledgehammer, i'd say "screw it, i'll put the next one in better" but personally, i'd try to knock that out of there and try again, because an axe head seems more dangerous to fly off the handle. You can also find some sledgehammer and normal hammer handles that are sold with some very thin shims

It's really dry (handle sat 10+ years in my garage), and the wedge is well aged 2x4. I'll be careful, and I'll wedge some wood in the big gap in the front, but the handle is proud and the dry softwood wedge seems solid.i can't see it shrinking and I have m can't see it moving anytime soon. If it does I have cut masonry nails that I softener and fashion into axe head wedges.

Why doesn’t he use toothbrush. Where is the citric acid, aren’t you suppose to put it in hot water. He sounds like he turned the humidifier on to make it hot. Not sure what he is talking about.

Yes I turned on the humidifier to make it hot. The water gets really hot when I turn it on without the whole reservoir. Toothbrush is a good idea.

Thanks for the comment. I added diced tomato and onion which seem to be traditional guacamole ingredients. It tastes great even if it didn't resemble a green store bought puree.

It's not amazing and mostly cleans up a good cutting edge but won't make one... for my uses (landscape tools... pruners) in prefer a small file and then a wet stone or speedy to just clean it up after the file.

I agree with your assessment. It's not amazing. HOWEVER, it's pocket sized and WILL create an edge on my Victronox kitchen knife as well as cheap AirBNB ones. So this is more about creating a habit with me. For garden tools, my diamond stones, files and angle grinder are more "at the ready"

So long as you have an accurate smaller scale, you should be fine. The bigger scale is for weighing things like vegetables and meat. Thanks for sharing! The calibration feature isn't documented in the instructions

The stated precision of the smaller scale is going to be finer than the larger scale. Before I bought this thing I had two digital scales, a 5 lb postal scale with very few significant digits and a small eBay one I got for weighing coins that has more precision. I think this unit it basically two of those together.

I would say not to use a "permanent" solution like staples. Makes it hard to replace failed cables. I'd look into either a velcro or similar solution.
@zippy1981dotnet
@zippy1981dotnet 2 жыл бұрын
Great point. I was using screw in wire holders before, and it's inside my desk drawers. It's such a hard to reach area and I'm running the wires through two automotive firewall grommets. So anyway, two wires here lasted over two years. I don't have USB cable failures very often. My wife tends to more often. Not judging, just facts I replace all the cables in the house. Anyway, the point is I have to take my desk drawers out and crawl under my desk to replace this wire, and for whatever reason I seem to be a savant at not bending USB cable ends. So the added effort of yanking staples out is not a huge deal. Next time I will probably use wire conduit.
