Broadchurch deserve all the praise for the acting, the themes, the dialogue, the music, the atmosphere and the portrayal of human emotion and tendencies. But as a whodunnit it's rubbish.

I remember watching broachchurch and thinking "person X" would be the most devestating reveal. That would be the worst thing that could happen. So that's when I felt like I knew.

Brilliant, such a lifesaver! If anyone in 2024 is having issues with this, there's some Extendscript syntax uses here that won't work with new versions of After Effects by default. Use this version and you should be good to go (just substituting this for thisLayer) compStartTimeInParent = comp("_________").layer(thisComp.name).startTime; audioStartTimeInParent = comp("_________").layer(thisLayer.name).startTime; fullStartTime = thisLayer.startTime; fullEndTime = thisLayer.source.duration+startTime; linear(time, fullStartTime, fullEndTime, fullStartTime+compStartTimeInParent-audioStartTimeInParent, fullEndTime+compStartTimeInParent-audioStartTimeInParent)

I've said this before, but Broadchurch is an absolute masterclass in showcasing human emotion and drama whilst also telling an incredibly heartfelt, yet tragic narrative, to the likes that we may not see again for a very long time.

Just finished season 1 and when this showed up I knew I had to watch it. The way you worded it was spot on in my opinion as when the killer was revealed I was so shocked! Like if picked up on it once Hardy had asked for his shoe size, but I was still surprised. AND HIS MOTIVE! Oh my god I wasn’t expecting that motive!! Honestly one of the best detective shows I’ve watched, and I’ve watched a lot.

I also love, that who did it is not just personal to her, who is part of the community, but they found a way, to make it personal to him, the outsider too! He was so willing to be dettatched and suspect anyone and still he is hit hard when all cards are on the table, struggling not to freak out cause while he is dettatched from the parents and everyone else, he grew attatched her and it breaks his heart! great analysis by the way!!!

Fun fact: In a 2016 Sag-Aftra interview, David Tennant (Alec Hardy) stated that they got the scripts as they went with the show - meaning that nobody knew who'd done it until the very last episode, not even the actors themselves. David himself said something like "...I thought everyone was guilty, I thought eeeveryone was guilty, which sort of played for the character as well. Olivia thought everyone was innocent" I think doing it this way in stead of having everyone know everything from the beginning is the way to go. Especially when you play a detective/an officer, you don't know if the people are lying or not

The way Will has written this worked with Extendscript, but won't work with new AE versions by default. You can either enable Extendscript legacy support in AE or you can just replace "this" with "thisLayer"

Are you happy with this setup? I am going for the same gh4 - 15-85mm setup :) any negative surprises? Metabones ?
@dranoellliw
@dranoellliw 6 жыл бұрын
boris0bmx actually I really liked the setup, but I very recently bought a Sony A7s2 and am looking to sell the GH4 because I realized I needed low light capability more than I had anticipated. For shooting outdoors and in Iceland with sunlight tho, the GH4 worked like a dream!

With this exact setup, I did find some stronger vignetting than I was expecting. The camera allows you to take photos in normal 4:3 ratio as well as 16:9 ratio- and when I am all the way zoomed out in 4:3 I can see very heavy vignetting. By changing the settings to only take 16:9 photos, it cropped this all out, but it’s something to keep in mind. To attach the 15-85 to the metabones tho- you may have to do some... uh... surgery! The metabones adapter is designed for EF lenses and the 15-85 is an EFS, meaning it has an extra plastic flange on the back that protrudes and would allow you to attach them together. So, I carefully popped it off and was able to attach them. The plastic piece I popped off of the lens was also easily reattachable.

Sure thing! I set up my GH4 on a tripod vertically (in portrait mode) to get as much image as I could vertically. I shot on a 15-85 Canon lens with a Metabones adapter. I literally would shoot for 10 seconds, then turn the camera a little to the right and shoot again. I did this about 10 times till I had gone in a full circle, then I stitched this all together in After Effects purely by just placing each video by hand in the right spot. I have since gone back and used Autopano to better stitch it, but what you see here was my After Effects stitch
