I have a book by Brad Leftwich and he asked Tommy about this tune and says Tommy remarked, "I reckon he must have been a mean baby."

Wonderful! In so many ways. The later versions omit the second intro and instead go right into the chorus again. I wonder, did cars have radios in 1915?

I believe this was recorded by Alan Lomax for the Library of Congress. He often had to cajole Jelly into using the real, raunchy lyrics.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this, but it’s just fantastic. The stories about sleeping on the ropes from Henry Mule Townsend who played with Robert Johnson are just things you won’t find in many history books. Honeyboy Edwards is just so cool. When I met him in 2010 I had so many questions I wanted to ask. But he looked at me with a look that said ,”go ask me some stupid question like did you meet the devil?” So we just chatted about the road and it went well.🦉 m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6LUkKSkga2ZbZY&pp=ygURYmx1ZXMgZG9jdW1lbnRhcnk%3D

Can you play catfish blues by Skip James ? To me Skippy is just another level, but among his catalog is this. It’s so intense and has such a sense of urgency. But trying to play it….😵💫 I’m nowhere near it.🦉 m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/j53Zknt7jbVqhLc&pp=ygUYY2F0ZmlzaCBibHVlcyBza2lwIGphbWVz

Pink Floyd brought me here. I love old blues music. I think this is a 5 string by the intro, tuned open E major or there abouts. This is the music that started it ALL.... Long live rock.

Thank you! Love these old songs and harmonies it reminds me of family singing when I was a little kid. My uncle would come with his cigar-box ukuleles, guitars etc. My dad would play harmonica and my mother would play guitar and sing. My seven older siblings all singing harmony! Our home was filled with music of all kinds! 🙌🏼💛
