Thank you for the video. I have a question. How do you record a voice? Is your lavalier mic plugged into some preamplifier that is a power source also? Is the mic signal roots into the module mix in input then? How exactly you recorded your voice live? Thank you sir.

I actually use two microphones. One on my chest and one near the amplifier for the drums, although I’m not sure that part worked out very well! It seems to be clipping the high end frequencies, like on the ride symbol. Either way those mics are hooked to my Cell phone via Bluetooth. Thanks for watching!

@RichardBonaduce
@RichardBonaduce 11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean, but I'm going to take a guess... By "bass drum ride extention" do you mean that I've mounted my ride cymbal off of the bass drum? Then, yes I did..! And by "does up bass drum pedal not vibrate?", do you mean that when I play the bass drum, doesn't it cause a sympathetic vibration with either the ride and/or my tom (which I also have mounted from the bass drum).., if that's what you mean, then sure it does! A tiny bit, yes. But since I'm not in a studio with isolation and mics all over, it doesn't matter to me. The convenience outweighs and minute sympathetic vibration my bass drum confers to things mounted to it.

Just curious after all this time if you tried the Digital snare, ride and hi hats ? I have the Td27 and only the digital snare so far, and I love it. I started on the TD17KVX and I just didn't like the snare, and when I upgraded to the digital snare, and had to get the Td27 module so it worked, it opened up the world to me. As soon as I get the money, I'm going to get the hi hat and ride. Just seeing if you changed your mind if you tried them... Get drumming !!! Have a great day ! :-)

Hi, I am a wannabe drummer...may I ask how you mounted your hi-hats? Are those Roland Vh-11 without the clutches and controllers? I like the idea of a remote hi hat without having to get the "remote contraption". Personally I don't mind having the hi hat not "moving/open/close".
@RichardBonaduce
@RichardBonaduce 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, and thanks for your question! It's actually a discontinued Roland item (still available used online - that's how I got them) called a CY12-H Hi-Hat. It is a single, solid molded cymbal in the shape of a set of closed hi-hats. Here is the official Roland page (That doesn't show it very well: www.roland.com/us/products/cy-12h/ But if you just google "Roland cy12-h" you'll see many more, better images and used pricing. However, because this item is discontinued by Roland, their newer modules don't even have it listed in their trigger menus! So something like a pair of CY-5s would probably work better. I ended up trying multiple selections in their menus for the CY12-H, and one of the standard CY settings seem to work just fine with it.

I look forward to Roland's patents expiring. I own a TD-20, and the tracking is great! I love the feel! But the sounds are horrible. If I were into heavily process stadium power kits (circa late 80s/early 90s) Roland's COSM modeling has got you covered. But I'm not. And to my ears, regardless of model (TD-20, TD-30, TD-50) the sounds are horrible. Add on top of this the inability to use one's own samples (and not to mention the PRICE!), and it's pretty clear Roland is resting on their laurels (and patents).
@graviton9282
@graviton9282 3 жыл бұрын
You know the td-30 snare drums for example, didn’t all respond the same way. Only the first few had the advanced sound modeling and response. While all the others were maybe just 4 layers deep really... so a lot of the Td-30 was filler anyway. And the EQ and transient goes a long way. After all that’s what different wood is about right.? Natural eq. Just saying. But yeah should be able to turn it on and sound great. But yeah if somebody puts their time into making all of those adjustments you know how long it takes so it shouldn’t be free. Besides now the same td-50 has 900 sounds and more capabilities. But yeah you gotta pay for it...

Great video Richard. I`m considering adding a rail to my Ludwigs and was thinking of the Gibraltar, but youre right with the dw one being better bang for the money. I have the Gibraltar cymbal mount already too. It's great aestheticly and saves me a lot of carry weight for a seperate stand. I`ve never had any issues with it sliding in the mount whilst playing to be honest and I play a 24" ride cymbal.

It's goddamn refreshing to hear another drummer minimizing as much as possible, and just wants to set up as quickly as possible. Great video. Aside from the snare, hi-hat, and throne stands, if I can have no stands at all, that's the way for me! I just got the new Gibraltar stealth docking station. I wish that just the U-bar could be permanently attached to the bass drum (the whole station to be memorized). Ya know... sorta like the rail, but just a tad longer. My ride, 2 crashes, and toms are all mounted in this one space. I LOVE it!! It's all good, though. Hey, just a thought... if the dw and Gibraltar rail is the same thickness, you could use the dw for the grip fir the rest of the Gibraltar. 😃
