once i got a big upwards bounce with that out of bounds platform while in shockwave and managed to SW and goal, which I’m sure was definitely faster, but of course it is mostly meaningless since you can never rely on lucky physics.

Why did you keep following the opponents route without thinking? Why did you not learn how to manage nitro, even when using an easy car to do it ?
