I just wanted to confirm what my vet told me a few weeks ago. He sent me home with 2 pre-loaded syringes, which my cat gets once per week. I ordered a vial of B12 from an online veterinarian pharmacy, and my vet supplied me with an additional four empty syringes. I did the first one from the vial today, following your instructions. The whole thing was a success, and I feel a lot more confident in giving my cat his injections, now. Thank you so much for a great video instruction.

Why are B12 vials of B12,....so much cheaper for animals than for humans? I must assume it's just marketing and perceived 'value differences'....as B12 or any molecule...is/are the same. Cyano or methylcobalamine is the same for all critters...B12,...afterall, is B12. Any answers here folks; not speculation.

Once you insert the needle, you need to also draw back on a plunger of the syringe a little bit to ensure no blood is coming in. You should feel some negative pressure. IF the blood is coming in, you need to remove the syringe asap and try another spot.

I think my vet of 38years thought I already knew how,as we were in the middle of our discussion and simply assumed this was so. So here I am on KZbin, watching your very well made instructional video. He did send me home with some pre-loaded syringes and I just wasn't thinking about the vial. I could have waited until next week to call him, but I have terrible anxiety about things like this. I want to know now! I do have another question too...I had always thought that B12 was usually given in the saddle area? I mean, I know it is also injected where you did it but I am already doing subq fluids and rotating sites. I also know that the saddle area has a smaller window of opportunity to get just the right spot. I'm kinda confused or hesitant about which is the best place to inject when I'm already doing fluids? Halp! Thank you!❤ Also, would it depend on how much reserve the cat has as far fat to be less sensitive? My cat has lost some weight recently due to finding out he's been chronically constipation and we're trying to put weight back on him. Hoping the B12 will have some effect on his appetite,etc. We're trying the least harmful approach first, then we'll move on to rx drugs if necessary. I just want him to have the least discomfort as possible as he's been through so much recently. He's not too happy about being poked no matter how what kind of preparations and considerations I make for him to help him to have a less stressful environment.I am experienced at giving the fluids, poor baby just isn't having any part of it. 😞 Thanks again....❤

My kitty has IBD and has lost so much weight. Do I give the injection in the same spot at the neck? I've seen my own vet used her hip area once because she doesn't have much subcutaneous tissue . After that visit they took her to "the back" and didn't let me see her get the injection. She got them once a week for a while.

IMPORTANT: Excellent video, but you failed to disinfect the top of the B12 bottle with an alcohol swab. Also, be sure to wash your hands prior and after procedure. Keeping everything sterile is essential. 🙂
