Charlton Heston. His reading is perfect, indeed!! What a classic for a story. Love it love it love it. I will never stop listening to Mr. Heston reading this book.

I don’t usually comment but I am tired of misinterpretations of this book. Hemingway wrote this book as an allegory on the evils of Capitalism. The old man dreams of catching a big fish believing that his problems will end. Just as most people dream of getting rich. When he hooks the fish the fish drags him out to sea and he has to spend all his energy to secure it. Just as most people spend all their energy trying to get rich. When he finally secures the fish his problems don’t end as he has to spend all his energy protecting it from the sharks. Just as the rich spend their lives protecting their wealth. At the end of his efforts, all he is left with is a skeleton. Hemingway is pointing out the pointlessness of materialism.

It also challenges the reader to challenge what is success? The fact he caught the fish or the fact he continued to persevere despite all life threw at him. It's a story about mental fortitude. Brilliant story.

Was listening to album at the time when everything in life was falling apart, listening it back, Makes me feel like those days aren’t over. Track 1-3 is by far the best in this album. Really a Haunting album that just makes you feel hopeless and desolated as fuck.

At times the reader reads as the OLD MAN, the often sounds just like Anthony Quinn who played him in one of the versions of the OLD MAN movies. (South Africa 22h45 GMT)

I enjoyed listening to well narrated story The Old Man and the Sea. Some of the sentences like ' Man can be destroyed but not defeated ' are still ringing in my ears.

I’ve never read this book but years ago I had a dream where i was on a boat with an old man, and we rowed to an island and he told me secrets about life that opened a light in my mind and heart, on the island I met a girl who I later would meet in real life and fall in love with, Sometimes I want to write a book because a lot of strange things have happened in my life
