Would this kayak be suitable for a beginner (kayaked only 4 times) I am thinking about buying a sit-on kayak and have a few possibilities on my list. I thought the Nomad was going to be 'the one' but one KZbinr suggested it was pretty unstable, which has worried me. Seeing these kayaks in quite rough sea shows they can cope OK, but as a beginner, I would be using it on calm water at least for the first few trips. Regards from Whitley Bay

Tengo un Nomad Feel Free, lo uso para correr olas y para travesías, tiene muy buenas prestaciones , nada mas divertido que correr olas en kayak, saludos desde Uruguay.

Its this one: www.feelfree-uk.com/sit-on-top-kayaks/nomad-sport.htm plus side: further plastics it on kayak, it pretty good in gnarly water and can write down a wave, but it is very heavy i.e. 30 kg and is terrible at carving. That's why I've bought a Surf shoe www.surfkayaks.com/product.php?productid=17759&cat=255&page=1 which is a natural step up from this.

Thanks for the advice. Having not paddled for a while I think I may have to look at a sit on top boat to start with. Otherwise I'm going to spend all day swimming :)

It's a good beginners boat and if you get the one with the built-in wheel on the back, you don't have to carry it. Also this design definitely handles surf better than other sit on kayaks ive seen. The feel free has a nice curved hull with a 'fin' of sorts, which means it holds its line as it planes down a wave.
