Maybe if you did some work, instead of your phone you wouldn't have an expiry date problem.
@BroomysGarage10 күн бұрын
Can happen to a DIYer or a big volume fabricator. If you work in a workshop or fabrication shop it would be easy thing to miss or not know about, and just always buying tins of discs and just keep on stacking new tins on top of the old ones in the supply cupboard every time you buy one. Discs made overseas take 3-4 months to be made and shipped, then might sit for 3-6 months in a warehouse, then could be sitting for months on a shelf in a shop as well (where again new tins could be placed on top of old tins). So by time you buy them they could already be 18 months old and only have 18 months life left.

The biggest problem is the hole on top of the engine. Had a socket roll down that like a Billiard ball while changing the battery, fishing it out was great fun.

Love the wire twisting with the drill. Got any tips on how to do that for a Y junction? Like running the loom down the chassis and then split off to left/right tail light?
@scottfranco196224 күн бұрын
I saw the video sometime back when. Then this week it happened, the $300 pool pump I was working on sheared clean off flat to the surface. I hacked on it with the usual combination of anti-sieze, and trying to turn it with a chisel, no luck. I drilled the middle, slipping once and drilling the pump instead. After making the center hole, I used an extractor. The tip of it is still in the bolt, since it, too, sheared off nicely. I remembered I'd seen a video on this, so looked it up. The first try was to weld a nut with a circular flat. It too, sheared, but I figured that weld was not too good. The biggest problem was getting electrical contact with the motor, which took lots of wire brushing before it worked. For the second try, I used the washer method. I like that a lot better, since it allows you to get a good weld to the bolt first. Then I welded the nut on. Lots of slowly applied torque and off it came. Thanks!

I think if you have a hefty job to do, like change a clutch or a rear main seal, and lack proper tools and especially a hoist to do it, then the convenience and time (as well as physical strain) saved makes this a lock as a go-to option regardless of where you are in Victoria. With my gearbox jack and hoist, I can have my TH400 out of the rx7 in under 30 minutes. Without those, seriously catch me after 3 hours still working on jack stands rolling around in the bone cold concrete, arms and back ripped to shreds, struggling with just the converter bolts. Time is money. Place like this is worth its weight in gold for jobs like that. 2 hour return trip from outer or south east to do a job in an hour for total of 3 hours that would probably take 6+ at home and snatch the will to live out of you, sign me up 😂

@@BroomysGarage I don't like to use other people's tools myself, but I'm experienced at doing this stuff so working on my back is not that bad. But it will be interesting to see. I couldn't afford $50ph to hire a hoist years ago, plus if something goes wrong you have to leave your dead car there. But maybe it's not aimed at the young apprentice who needs to work on their car?
