Let me tell you something well at least at our landfill the Berkeley County landfill in Moncks Corner South Carolina it's home to about 25 bald eagles they go in there and eat the rats and they fly around it's awesome😮

In Michigan they made ski areas out of the hills.They would build those hills up higher.I think that's a good thing.Maybe other states should learn from that

They also add in gas piping to recoup the methane and use that for energy.

Place I work at we make a aggregate that cleans the methane that comes off of landfills and refine it so you can use it

What thay are doing is Letting it ferment it then makes gas which they use for all sorts of things. If you look carefully, you can see the pipes coming out of the old mound.

Locally the methane is scavenged off and used to run small cogen plants for electric.

Not sure. But that liner is for leaching and run off control so wastewater goes into the proper control basin or holding ponds.

The bottom liner is the same thing we used to line mud pits at drilling rig sites. The top liner most likely isn't a perfect seal but, does help with containment. The pipes are used to vent methane gas that's created as part of decomposition.
