Do these composting toilets function in cold environments?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 2 ай бұрын
Hi there! Yes, composting toilets can function in cold environments, but the composting process can take longer when temperatures drop below freezing. To accommodate the slower composting process during winter, we recommend opting for a larger system than what you might normally need. This way, the system can handle the reduced activity in colder months more effectively.

Hi, were does the waste go in? do you have to cut a hole in the top of the container?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 3 ай бұрын
Hi there, The waste will enter the back half of the chamber through a chute, and we allow customers to choose the location of the hole anywhere on the back side of the chamber to accommodate adjustments for their specific setup. You can use a jigsaw or similar tool to cut the hole.

How is this odourless?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 3 ай бұрын
Hi there! Our composting toilets have ventilation fans that need to run 24/7 to continuously remove odours. If you install your Green Loo composting toilet correctly, following the installation manual, and keep the fan running all the time, your toilet will be odourless.

I like this toilet but I'm a little concerned that the liquid isn't sealed. There's a lot of bumpy campsites and gravel roads in Otago! Sometimes when I open my chemical portable toilet I get splash back from the pressure & while that's less likely to happen with a waterless toilet, it does mean there's a lot of shaking going on. Could I cap-off the pee bottle while travelling?
@elaineinnz
@elaineinnz 3 ай бұрын
PS with the new FC regs, do you plan to design a compost toilet that can be fixed in place?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 3 ай бұрын
Hi Elaine! The system itself is quite stable once installed and on a normal road would not produce any spillages, however if it is quite a rough road, for peace of mind, you can definitely cap off the pee bottle. The RV-Pod can be fixed to the floor, is this what you mean? Also, can you please share the regulations with us, so we can investigate it?

@@GreenLoo Portable toilets were excluded from the Freedom Camping regs in June 2023. There is very little guidance on compost toilets but all toilets in vehicles now have to be fixed (floor, wall, etc).
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 3 ай бұрын
Hi Elaine, Thank you for sending the link. Our RV-Pod is a fixed toilet, secured to the floor with silicone or screws, with ventilation routed through the wall. Therefore, it is attached to the wall and not designed to be removable. Based on my understanding, the RV-Pod complies with all the regulations for self-contained toilets in New Zealand.

How often do the containers need to be swapped when used by 1-2 people?
@GreenLoo

Hi Abbey! This system: the Tiny-Pod for 1-2 people with full time use would be roughly 3-4 weeks exchange over period. This is just a rough guide; every situation may change slightly depending on the circumstances.

Would be great too ee how it is installed in the ground - my concern is accessibility being so far into the earth. It would be for a container home. Any suggestions?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 3 ай бұрын
Hi Joe! All of our split systems do need underfloor clearance, and specifically this GL-90 system needs 450mm clearance underfloor. Accessibility should not be a problem if you have the correct underfloor clearance. If you do not have underfloor clearance, I would suggest having a look at our self-contained units. Feel free to give us a call, if you have any further questions. 😊

What’s the typical compost time in days?
@GreenLoo
@GreenLoo 7 ай бұрын
When your first Tiny-Pod container is full and has been taken outside to put aside to compost, it will take approximately 2-3 months to break down completely. That will depend on time of the year and location, as warmer weather speeds up the composting process. :) Feel free to contact us directly at [email protected] if you have further questions.

quick question, for example if this was going to be put in a forest park setting. Is the contents of the treated compartments safe to dump in said parks setting? or will that be determined by the locals governments land use rules/consents/regulations. Also out of curiosity do Rota-Loo deliver to New Zealand? and last question! if the unit will be an area with minimal light (mature beech forest) and inconsistent wind will the unit struggle to evaporate the liquid within the Rota-Loo system? good video, thank you.

Hi, the contents are safe. However local government regulations should be inquired about. The units are available in New Zealand via www.greenloo.org.nz

I wish you would do a video showing an actual installation of the GL90. There are too many aspects to installing it that you just assume people will know. The manual also doesn't provide enough information for anyone other than a handyman to be able to install it, and that handyman will still need to guess at many aspects.

Thnaks for the video. I've search the web but could not find any video showing a real life installation using your green loo. Do you know of any or do you have any so I can see how it really function? An installation that has been working for about 1 year would give an idea what critical points to focus on. Like I always say, the questions always comes later.

You could do that - However, you'd have to perforate the bag in order for the liquids to seep through - the RV Pod has a urine diversion for this reason.
