Kermit Peck/TM you must have a good eye for traffic violations because I don’t see it! But thank you for watching! At this point, pretty much all that’s left is cosmetic changes/improvements. The construction itself is pretty much complete.
@Zeakthecat6 жыл бұрын
Davis Deaton interesting. if you look closely at 4:05, you might see the driver make a u turn on double yellow right after going through the roundabout, which is kinda dangerous.

Nice video and great aerial footage, Davis! But to my opinion the bridge itself is very ugly. It looks like a big highway bridge leading right into the center of a cozy village. I feel a little bit sorry for the tenants and shops right beside the bridge ramp.

Well you have done it again. These are great videos. I especially like the speed which you play the video where you can just tell that it is sped-up. CDOT should pay you to use these videos or use your services for monitoring/ advertising their projects. I am sure this technique you use could be applied to other situations and be just as effective. Your state has a number of steam train excursions, perhaps a ride along of something documenting them. I thinking of the Durango and Silverton or the Georgetown Loop. My late wife and I enjoyed them so much. I am sure others would also. I look forward to your next project. Thanks !!!
@DavisDeatonPhotography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, as always, for your comment Mr. Peabody! I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but aside from documenting the incredible construction process, I've been creating these videos as a part of my "Senior Project" at Glenwood Springs High School. If all goes according to plan, I'm hoping to work with CDOT to create a mini documentary type film showing a compilation of the project from start to finish with interviews to go along with it. In theory, CDOT will be able to use it as they see fit, such as for advertising as you mention. That's the plan, anyway, but if that doesn't work out, at the least I'll have all these videos for everyone to watch into the future! I've really come to enjoy this type of aerial photography/videography and would love to apply it to future projects (such as something with Amtrak, etc.) down the road! Hopefully the opportunities arise, and if they do, they'll definitely be posted here on KZbin for y'all to see! Thanks so much for watching!

It's great that you were finally able to make it over to Glenwood Springs! You hopefully got to enjoy a very nice, white Christmas! :D. It goes without saying that the weather here is considerably warmer in the summer, though, and the town offers a lot of great things to do. You're always welcome back! Thanks for watching the video!

why was the bridge being replaced in the first place? old bridge too narrow? or was it deemed structurally deficient? kinda curious.
@DavisDeatonPhotography7 жыл бұрын
The original bridge was far too narrow for the four lanes it was being used for. (originally constructed with the intent of two lanes) and it was built over 64 years ago, so you're right on both counts.. too narrow and structurally deficient. The new bridge better accommodates the growing town where four lanes quickly became a necessity! Thanks for watching!
@Zeakthecat7 жыл бұрын
no problem davis, i live in small town usa myself, but its a much smaller town in tennessee with around 3.5k people in it, but i also know how vital infrastructure can be to even the smallest of towns. i like how glenwood springs is making more investments to their local infrastructure and is active in making sure projects are completed in the fastest way possible. you can't have a town that looks bad, it doesn't attract industry and commerce.

Thank you Mr. Peabody for the kind words! I've loved reading your feedback through the comments over the last few months. I plan to continue posting more videos of the bridge until they get it completed, so if you'd like to give me some song names, I'd be happy to put them behind the footage in the future!

DD, I think your choices for music are good. Country music will not stop me from enjoying your videos. I would not want to suggest to you how to score your videos. You do wonderful job now. I also like the other videos on your site. You seem to have a good background in music. I like most kinds of music, classical, jazz, 70's rock, {Moody blues, etc.}. This is your art form, I am just along for the ride. Keep up the good work. Man, that sunset on the end of this video is just amazing.

Hello. Question for the publisher please. Why did they not simply build a road around the river? That way they wouldn't have to fund such a sizable expenditure for a gratuitous bridge. Please respond. Thanks.
@GSMSfromFV7 жыл бұрын
The Colorado River flows all the way to the Gulf of Mexico (Oops. Gulf of California). At what point should they have actually "crossed" the river to get to the other side, as opposed to go "around" the river? This was a replacement for an outdated bridge that had been there since the 60s, I believe.
@christopherdeaton51197 жыл бұрын
GSMSfromFV I still don’t understand why everyone is so intent on them building a bridge. There was never a need for the road to cross the river. Simply extend Grand Avenue to the Pacific at which point a ferry could pick up the cars and loop them 10-15 feet to the other side of the river. The cars could then proceed back NE on Grand Avenue 2.0 and be deposited in north Glenwood Springs. It really makes you wonder what our founding fathers were thinking when they built the river where they did. All of this could easily have been prevented with a little common sense. #AshamedAmerican
@GSMSfromFV7 жыл бұрын
All righty then . . .
@Zeakthecat7 жыл бұрын
actually chris if you think about it, its better to just build across the river. it cuts down on commute times, and allows for more commerce and it raises the attraction level so more industry/business comes into the area too. a city that invests in infrastructure is a city that is investing into its own future and decides their fate, because infrastructure is the driving force to a thriving local economy. i live in camden tn and i can tell you right now my small town isn't really investing much on roads as it is in electrical and both us routes (70 and 641) not only need widening, there is some intersections that need a new light for safety reasons and other intersections that already have lights a update (addition of crosswalks and some intersection modifications) so yea, im also ashamed of my town too, but im happy that glenwood springs recognized the need for a new bridge.

there was already a bridge there, why did they replace it? and how are they going to tie the one end to the existing roadways? it widens considerably and is not really in-line with any other road. just wondering. can't really picture it. beautiful area though.
@DavisDeatonPhotography7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mr. Michael! Thanks for watching. If you go to my channel and watch some of my more recent videos, you'll see they've been working on a whole new roundabout system on the northwest side of the bridge. This will provide all the connections to the existing roadways. The old bridge was getting a little outdated with Glenwood's quickly growing population. It was designed to be too narrow for the four lanes that it was being used for, and it was getting old in general. (wearing out). Hopefully the other videos will help answer your other question! Thanks again for watching!
