I can't believe that your tires and mine look nearly identical after grooving. I haven't been able to use mine in snow yet, due to lack of snow here in Minnesota in the last couple of years. Great platform to build. Had a '78 on basically the same axle setup as yours except had a Dana 60 front axle, had 383 small block on a skyjacker 8" lift and 40" monster mudders. Mine definitely wasn't pretty like yours but it was finally built to be indestructible and was a great 4 wheeler. Nice rig bud. Word of advice spend the money on the best U-joints you can afford because they're definitely the weakest point on the driveline.

People don't understand that in snow, it's all tire. Mud terrains are made to eject debris. The only thing that will "grip" snow is snow. Your tires gotta be able to pack snow in the grooves and not eject, and that snow is what gives you traction. Anyone telling you those tires are ruined doesn't get it. Good job. And, it's nigh impossible to buy honest to God snow tires above 35". And I'm not sure I'd trust airing them down below 10/15 psi, cause that's just not what they're designed for. If someone has found real snow tires bigger than 35“, I'm all ears.

Slick rig! 9:06 regarding the Buddy Heater. I’ve got one and have used it sparingly inside the Blazers (‘88 K5 & ‘85 M1009) and in our camper at deer camp. Maybe in the blind too. 😂 Getting to be a puss the older I get and hard to keep myself warm after I dropped a hundred lbs. Being cold can put a big dent in a trip. Have you messed with any of the diesel heaters? Lot of people call the “chinese diesel heaters.” Man I got one and I dig it. Able to run it outside and just pipe the blower hose into the cabin. Some folks will do a tire-step and put the heater unit on it but you’d have to build a custom one with them big ass meats. I’ve seen people put the whole unit inside and just run a hole to route the exhaust pipe out. Worth a try…and they put out some big heat just sipping diesel. I want to eventually tie into my M1009’s diesel fuel tank and run the exhaust out. The one I have doesn’t take up much and gets real hot. Only no louder than my Big Buddy Heater and just a clicking Sound. What part of CA are you in? I’m in Eastern Oklahoma and we get that damn 110+° heat and -20° cold at times but nowhere near the snowfall I saw in some of your videos. Worst part is we usually get a layer of ice before snow around here My uncle grew up in Marysville before moving here and would tell me stories of some of the Northern CA snow wheeling his ‘71. And adventures working as forest fire fighter. Subscribed and gonna check out more of your videos. I may have to pick your brain some on the 6.2 and the turbo route. Mine has blown head gasket (at most hopefully). It’s the military J-code 6.2 and it seems to have a little more pep than the ones I’ve ridden in before. One day I’d love to Cummins swap it but that’s a project that’s gonna have to wait on funding. My neighbor parts out Cummins rigs so should be able to find. Funny 😄 happened to catch this video because I carry everything in those 27 gal totes. Mostly yellow lids and some red. Been thinking about spraying the lids black to not catch the eyes of a passing crackhead as easily. You’ll love that manual rear winder. Thought I’d hate it but it’s far superior over the electric. My rebuild on my Silverado packaged K5 will be milder so I plan to tear the gate apart and replace the components. I do miss getting to roll it down going down the highway in the manual rig but it’s not a bad trade off for reliability. Shit sorry I didn’t realize I wrote a novel. If you’re here on Chapter 21 now then my hat is off to ya. I’ll let you get back to doing livin’! Have fun and be well, man 👊🏼
