well,one of my snap ratchets a standard 1/4 drive for example which now 52 years old because it has never been abused or overused.One thing I think that a lot of DIY types never seem to have learned is how to take care of basic hand tools.And with the death of Sears the break it and a get a new one is learning this(according to them)harsh lesson.See enough of that boo hoo on youtube.........

Wouldn’t the oil pressure sensor be located bottom half of engine by the oil pump and oil pan? Not sure how LS engines are but a ford is always on the bottom half in my experiences
@SilverloafAutos
@SilverloafAutos Ай бұрын
@jonesin615 When I look it up, it shows the location as being right behind the air intake manifold, so this looks right for the lm7. I'm not a mechanic, just trying to learn so I can assemble this pig as a test unit before digging into my more expensive engines 🫣 I know right above the oil filter on these engines there's a spot people will put a mechanical oil pressure Guage, but the factory sensor is in this rear top of block location.

What the size on oring or part number the oring used in this video
@SilverloafAutos
@SilverloafAutos Ай бұрын
I'm sorry I don't know the answer. I used the o rings that came in a repair kit along with all the components to complete this job. There were several sizes of o rings and I just chose the ones that matched the old sizes as I pulled them off. I did buy an assortment of o rings just in case, and if I didn't have the kit that's what I would suggest. Buy the assortment of sizes and then match them up as you take the old ones off, thst should keep it simple and very affordable 👍

Why is this a trend that people put grease on brake pads . The only thing that needs greece are the slide pins . That grease gets hot runs down and gets on the pad. Grease and breaks don't mix If you wanna stop
@SilverloafAutos
@SilverloafAutos Ай бұрын
Hogh temp Grease for the rear of the brake pads, on the wear points to ease friction and avoid noisy squeeling brakes. It doesn't get hot and run down, doesn't get between the pads and rotor. You also want to put this on the contact points for brake shoes if you have drum brakes and/or emergency brake that has shoes inside the rotor of rear disc brake 👍

Very lucky on your alternator location, the ones with 3.6L are in a horrible location. I'm debating on whether to tackle it, or take it somewhere. Becoming one of those years.
@SilverloafAutos
@SilverloafAutos 2 ай бұрын
Oh man, that thing is buried on the 3.6! I havent looked at one up close, but from what I can see in online pics and vids of the location, you'll have to drain the coolant (enough to remove the top hose at least) and remove the radiator fan assembly to get enough access. Maybe part of the intake on some model years with 3.6? I was curious if it could be done from underneath by unbolting rhe ac compressor and moving out of the way enough to wiggle the alternator out the bottom, but without seeing one up close I can't really tell. Any thoughts on how you'd proceed?
@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill
@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill 2 ай бұрын
@@SilverloafAutos Either way you go about it, its going to be a booger. I will probably try from the top, instead of the wheel well, unless I end up taking it somewhere to be done. Some guys I have watched that go through the wheel well, do unbolt the AC compressor I have seen on KZbin. Pricing on parts is way out of control. Gee whiz-z_z.
