What a treasure Warren is .. who’s the singer ? Sounds like Karen Oliver ..what a forward thinking and artistic take on traditional… ultimate minimalism so dynamic fluid and oddly beautiful as always. Love the remix of are we still married ..

"I used to have none, Now with you I've got one. If I can add just one more, Then you'll know what your in for." Jim explains his calculations in the lyrics pretty clearly. Also that he says "for" on the fourth line of the song is kinda witty even if it wasn't intentional. But yeah, I reckon the song is about a guy trying to have a threeway but everytime he tries to arrange it, the unwillingness, illnesses or death of the potential third participant gets in the way of him fulfilling his fantasy. It's a dark tounge in cheek satire highlighting how some folks see others as props in their own fetishs without any consideration as to their consent or wellbeing. The last verse even seems to indicate that the life support is being cut off quickly so that he may continue his quest for that elusive third threeway participant. That's just my interpretation. I'm probably wrong and it's really about the structure of hierarchies being intrinsically pyramid like or something or rather. I don't know. Good song though.

story behind this is even better. the lyrics were originally gonna be some mike watt stuff, but they got replaced because d said they were "too spacey", so instead, they read a note left by a friend's landlady.

Hey once I heard the most beautiful live set where Jim started out with a sample of That super famous intro guitar by Tracy Chapman. He then proceeded to add harmonies with piano and electronics and just sublimate the simple guitar sample in a similar manner to the outro here. Does anybody know if that is recorded? What a miss if not. It has been on my mind for about twenty years.

Is there a difference between the version here and Eureka's? I find only the ending is sublimely extended but in every other way it sounds the same.

Yes, both Little Island and Women... are the album versions with a lot of twists/mashups with other tracks (for instance, Women of the World has the Eureka outro).

Yeah; I agree with the sentiments of those who say that they miss D. [RIP]. I've been a huge Minutemen fan since oohh, at least 1983 (earlier?), and funnily enough, this is one of my favourite The Minutemen songs. Yeah: I owned the whole lot from The Punch Line to Three Way Tie (For Last). Yey this is one of my greatest faves. Awesome song . Great dissonant guitar towards the end.

God he’s just got so many awesome riffs. Also does anyone know what the lyrics to halfway to a three way are actually about? They’re so weird and creepy and then the last line is about pulling life support and seeing someone drift away and die, hard to figure out what he’s trying to say.
@somb03 жыл бұрын
people will argue it means something but i think it’s just jim’s misanthropic black sense of humor. it’s about sexually assaulting disabled women, some that are on life support, with “halfway to a three way” insinuating that being disabled makes you half a person. it’s meant to contrast the pretty ass guitar work he’s doing imo

@@somb0 "“halfway to a three way” insinuating that being disabled makes you half a person". As in, Jim plus the disabled woman makes one and a half persons, so he's missing another person and a half (i.e. a "full" person plus another disabled one or three disabled ones) to achieve the threeway? Nah, man, I don't think that's how the math is supposed to work out. You're always there for your own threeways, so you don't count that. You only care about the two others. You get one, you're halfway to the threeway.
