Wow, that’s a fail. You don’t understand that the cd track was already buffered for some seconds into the dac memory.

It's true, I've noticed the same problem on mine and it's annoying.

wow, that's an epic fail... I prefer a 1 sec delay, but to properly read my track 🤣

Because of the highly advanced read ahead buffer (Gapless playback) once you go back to track 9 the way your doing it actually it's playing the the disk is always spinning but the digital output hasn't caught up' All new players do this unless you hit the button twice then it will start from the 1st 'of track 9 but disk . When you hit forward or backwards digital output stops !! Hit the button twice from 11 playing '

Very good information. Thank you.. Just wondering, did you return it and get another unit? If so, were the results the same? Is it gapless, by the way?

I have the 7000CDT, it is gapless. My player didn't exhibit this issue (wondering if this was a bad unit or maybe it had older firmware).

Got a new unit from the latest batch with the newest possible firmware and the problem was the same. They seem to be constructed to power-save on the digital outs right when the signal stops, sending the dac to sleep as well. If they'd added something to keep the output from power saving this issue would be solved. Probably their own dac:s and amps are suited for their own players. I've tried 4 different DACs and one of them did a little better than the others. It was horrible in all other regards though! I'm getting my money back though. Audiolab - never again!

@@ping-pongpossum9101 OK, I am using the 7000CDT with the 7000A, so that may explain why I didn't see this behavior. Glad you were able to get your money back. What amp and DAC are you using?

@@ping-pongpossum9101 Thank you for the response. Your experience is very disappointing, especially considering you gave them a second chance. I guess I will have to consider something else, perhaps Cambridge Audio, for a Transport I want go buy. Cheers!!!
