Fantastic movie! I enjoyed every second of it. The emperors are not twins (it´s obvious), Caracalla is one year older than Geta, they co-rulled for one year and then Caracalla had his brother killed. To me they looked exactly how mad Roman emperors looked and behaved.

Thought it was awful. Absolutely nowhere near the first movie. Score was poor, characters had nothing to do and the cgi looked so cheap. Absolutely baffled me how poor it was. Why on earth did it need to be his son when it makes absolutely no sense. The twins could have been so good but compared to phoenix they had nothing to do, needed to see them being evil or inept to insight the mob

They release 1 act at a time. Same as season 1.
@fabiothed67194 күн бұрын
About the release, it is weekly. Every week one Act. In my opinion that is a Great Solution, one episode per week is to little and all at once its kinda immediately over. So i think the „every Saturday 3 episodes“ works GREAT also considering the three parted structure of the series, one Act is basically lika a Movie

I have NEVER been a fan of the Brian Herbert / Kevin Anderson books... their writing style is very adolescent and simplistic compared to Frank. Their characters are 2-dimensional, the dialog is awful, and their storylines are absurdly stupid. But if a prequel was going to be made to help explain the Dune universe I would much rather have seen a story about the Machine Wars / Butlerian Jihad. This feels too disconnected to anything about the main Dune novels. It also meant the cancellation of another show I was following, The Serpent Queen which also starred Samantha Morton. Samantha is a brilliant actor, but Valya in the Sisterhood novel was a despicable revenge-crazed sociopath.

~The weird sexual relationships~ My dude, reread those books. It`s all about weird sexual stuff, from God emperor forward the plot focus a lot on sex stuff, I still remember the weirdest dialogue between a Bene Gesserit and a Honored Matre where they are arguing because one said to the other that she couldn`t do vaginal pulsation. UGH you people forget how the dune books could be cheesy and over the top.
@PedroRodrigues-fh1ku6 күн бұрын
"it just feels off when it comes to vibe of what Dune IS, at least this modern Dune that Denis crafted" that's your problem, you are comparing it to an adaptation of the books, which ARE NOT the books. In my opinion Villeneuve's film feels off when it comes to what Dune is, most of the fantasy vibe and aesthetics that comes with the sci-fantasy genre of the books are lost. If they were to adapt the last 3 books I can't see how Villeneuve's vision would fit in those settings, God Emperor leans a lot on fantasy aesthetics, heretics and Chapterhouse are more like space operas and action that would be more fitting in the hands of the people who produced Andor and Rogue One. I like the contemplative feel of his movie but it is overdone (the second film is way better than the first tho, even aesthetically). There's no clutter in his movie, no texture/noise, the settings feels too desolate even when they are in the cities, it lacks everyday life scenes, Arakeen is barelly there even tho in the books it feels like another character.
@PedroRodrigues-fh1ku6 күн бұрын
Also it might resemble Foundation because Dune is inspired by that very series of books, you are comparing Dune book1 which is set tens of thousands of years apart from this show, mostly in Arakis to a story that shows other societies and settings, God emperor is VERY different from the precious 3 books, and the next 2 books are VERY different from the previous 3 books, every couple of books the style changes, the scope changes, the societies feel different and even the writing is different (and I'm talking about the 6 books writen by Frank only)

I agree with you. I'm reading God Emperor right now and was excited for the show but it doesn't compare. They took Herbert's elaborate vision and turned parts of it into a cheap CW sci-fi show. The space coke and trashy sex just disappointed. Now I know how my friend who read Game of Thrones felt.

I absolutely agree. I'm a huge Denis fan and book fan, and this show has nothing to do with it. It's your typical badly written drama in the 'theme' of Dune. There are several scenes where I just burst out laughing from how silly it was written and directed. This show is NOT for Dune fans. It's for the general public who is fine with mediocre since they don't know what a gem Dune actually is.

@@JosephMarchione It is the only Dune thing to directly reference the tyrant, and specifically mentions arafel - the cloud darkness of holy judgement; both a god emperor and heretics reference...I really liked the tone and aesthetic, really felt like dune to me. Also, this isn't a direct adaptation of brian herbert's sisterhood of dune - they are definately doing their own thing; which I like! More Dune! Loved the scene where Javicco and duke Richese are talking while thier truthsayers are in the background scheming against both of them lol. Also liked seeing the acolytes doing prana-bindu training. Really intrigued by desmond hart, my guess is he's and Ixian spy with Tleilaxu eyes or something - very intrigued by this mystery. I thought episode was solid and a good start for a 6 episode miniseries. They even quoted the Orange Catholic Bibile: "thou shall not disfigure the soul." Don't really understand all the hate and apathy from so called Dune fans, especially the ones who have read the whole saga; but to each their own I guess...episode two could be a snooze for all I know.

@@anomaly217 dune fans who read the books ages ago and don`t remember anything but keep criticizing this show for no reason other than ~it doesn`t look like Villeneuve`s Dune~ which doesn`t look like the book anyways. They put the books on a pedestal as if they are holy and flawless, They aren`t, and neither are the adaptations and it`s completely fine. They also like to compare with GOT, as if they weren`t sh1t1ing on it a couple years ago as well. This one episode got more Dune lore than the movies (includin Lych`s)? Homeworlds, bene gesserit training, hand talk, Sharing, Buttlerian Jihad, a better way of depicting prescience, production design that looks both sci-fi and FANTASY (which Vileneuve disregard by making everything so sterile and minimalist), small folk and actually showing us cities and everyday life, possible Tleilaxu and Ixian plots, Truthsaying, the music score not drowning everything else on screen etc. These fans should reread the books

Nah....your channel is what's pointless, Joey. The endless slew of Dune books lost the point after the first one, as well. Frank Herbert wasn't exactly Hemingway in terms of writing ability. Anyhoo, I LOVED the annoying kid getting poisoned by Ragnar Lothbrok in the end of the ep. I was afraid that little ginger dweeb would be a regular, but they wisely kilt'im'off. And not sure why the self-immolating burning lady got burnt, but it looked pretty great for TeeVee FX. Point is, nobody is forcing you to watch.
