When I lost my dad a few years ago, my life did a 180. He left us so early and out of no where, that is when I learned that change can happen anytime and to anyone. I felt lost for that entire year. This experience changed me as a person completely. I took a lot for granted. I now cherish the time with my mom and my siblings. My priorities have changed. It's made me into a better person.

This resonates with me a lot. I went through a breakup a few years and it was one of the biggest transformation for me. I didn't realize it when I was going through it that how it would actually be one of the biggest lessons of my life. it's pushed me to be my most authentic self. Now I look back and I am in a way grateful for it. <3

Guessing you are going to stay in Germany for the next few years? At least you sound like it is.
@toms59964 күн бұрын
It would be interesting to see how he would feel living in Germany a longer time. Perhaps in a bigger city. I, for myself, love Germany. Especially the bigger cities. As a Finn, German culture is at the same time similar and very different. I still feel embracing different cultures is not that difficult - but does require a particular mindset whether you're a Finn, a German or an American. Living in the US is the easiest for me - people are so easy-going and open. However - Americans are also the touchiest people in all the world I've encountered so one has to navigate a bit between being easy-going and 'respecting THE AMERICA' with Americans😆 American's are still such a sweet bunch, just a little touchy.

I stayed countless holidays in Germany over the last 66 years, I mean, crossing the border is for me is exactly 45 meters, in NL. That was why I made the remark. He does have one big advantage: He does know the German mindset. The question becomes more like: Can the EU compete with the California.
@toms59964 күн бұрын
@@Paul_C I think it never is a competition between us EU and the US (California in his case). It's what does a person want. For me as a Finn, I absolutely love the US - Seattle, Chicago, Utah. But Germany with its major cities somehow offers more to me.

At the moment, plan is still to continue living in both places. This video was more of a generalized discussion on the process of change. My experience is minimal, compared to life altering changes. Putting these words out there for anyone that may need them. :)

Yes, yes, and yes! I'm a hibrid myself, born in South Africa with my second husband an Englishman (and all that entails!) and we relocated to Cyprus... Yes, we are part of a living system of community, however strange and unfamiliar it may seem at first. Immerse yourself in the 'local' traditions; much to learn!

Absolutely!!! No-one can be totally open-minded, not in my opinion or experience. What people can strive for is to not show their narrow-minded stumbling blocks, to realise what they are and learn to live with them and not impose them on others. The world would be one hell of a place in a far better position than it is.

I've missed you! Home, to me, is in the gap. The breath between the breaths - the gap - the field of all possibilities. I'm also an 'inbetweener' born in South Africa, married an Englishman who made me think I was English, and now living a Cypriot life in Cyprus. Just take a breath and you are home. Good to see you again, Jay.

I’m a European living in the USA for many years now. Leaving back to Europe very soon. Forever. The last few years here in the USA my wife and I diligently tried cultivating meaningful friendships. Two couples we invited over on different occasions, we catered, were very hospitable, had a good time, they never invited us to their place or out, period. Another couple we spent a lot of time with, they even invited us to their marriage ceremony where it was just the four of us. They moved to California and now want my wife to schedule calendly appointments with them just to catch up over the phone. Another guy I’ve known for a while texted me one day telling me that we’re “like family.” I’ve invited him over twice, he’s never invited me over once; he lives 5 minutes away. Calls me “family.” Lmao. I have absolutely given up on seeing people here.

Hey! Good to hear from you after so long. Always good to hear how you see things. Your mesage in this video is from someone who has found success, has money and the opportunities that that brings. What you have found in Europe is pretty much available to all, at some level, if anyone chooses to take advantage of what is out there. In the US................... I am in the UK and home to me means somewhere where I can be me, no restrictions,. For me that depends enormously on where I live, who are my neighbours and where they are. I want to play music LOUD when I need to, to not have judgement passed over trivia, basically, to be left to dow whatever I want to do.

I have been living on two continents for some time like you, and am currently living in a corner of Germany where three countries come together and are thus easily accessible. So I am happy to say that I can follow your train of thought a 100 percent. But of course you need this experience to not just cling to a certain place or house or background in the belief that only this can be your home. For me it was a freeing experience to feel at home in a completely different surrounding, although you must admit that there is always a little bit missing which is probably the human network that is left in the other place.

I live in Florida, but it's never felt like home. I was stationed in Germany and that felt like home. I wasn't because of the country or the city, it was about the people.

Love this. Could not have been at a better time. These past couple of weeks, I've been homesick, the weather turning cold, getting dark earlier, and not having the same friend and family support in my new country...I was feeling quite down. I was thinking of the same question, what is home. And I have to say, for me it's definitely the people. People. can make or break that feeling of home. <3

1:19 'I couldn't understand a single word because I didn't speak any German at all.' maybe it was due to their Bavarian accent. in theory, you should have been able to pick up on quite a few words as both German and English are west Germanic languages and share a lot of common roots. the simpler the conversation, the more common the vernacular in English, the more similar the words get to their German translations. roughly 29% of English word roots are Germanic in origin and have quite similar sounding modern German equivalents. 😉

I actually had a woman who has a channel called HUCKLEBERRY stalk me at my home. She also said heinous things about my Native American heritage in chats, whom she doesn’t know and NOBY confronts her about her bullying people. It is Shockng.

Well put Jay. I would say for the most part whenever I get into conversations with Americans, they don't know what they are missing when they get outside of the United States and travel, my problem with American society is they think they're hot shit and they think America can't do no wrong (of course not want to generalize and say all Americans think this way). It's incredibly embarrassing that whenever I travel i hear Americans talk of how great it is. I came back from France recently and I can tell you that if a French person were to move to the United States, it'll feel more like a downgrade, understand the cost of living isn't cheap in France but the trade off to take care of yourself is much more reasonable than to stay miserable.

I have worrked a lot with Americans, and what I think it comes down to is little/no job security. There is often no team spirit. Lots of white lies to avoid being backstabbed or for the purpose of backstabbing someone else. You don't want to lose your job. Like you said, it's a very competitive environment...which kind of promotes selfishness.

If people on this discussion board think the United States is the only country with this problem, then you are all wrong. This is a global problem, and this narrator may be right in some ways, but he is mistaken in other ways. The United States has been a giving country to many different countries around this world thanks to our government that rapes the hard-working average American with high taxes. However, this country has helped people from other countries more than the average American at the expense of the hard-working average American. This country has been great for many decades because of capitalism, which has always worked. So, if the United States were to have a government that other countries have, then the United States would be a third-world country. Believe me, there have been many times when people in the United States have lost jobs, so companies can hire immigrants and H-1B visa workers at a cheaper wage, and I'm one of those people who experienced that. So, yes, America probably has a systematic racism problem, and black people are the most experienced that problem, but when areas that experienced Gentrification are because those people have destroyed communities. After all, the government ran these areas. This is a government issue, and if any changes need to be made, stop voting for a government that continues to lie by making promises of free things. Then, the average voter buys into the lies and continues to vote for a government that continues the problem.

The soul is your mind your will your emotions your personality so when you’re alive you’re a living soul and when you die, you’re a dead . the soul sleeps until the second resurrection/day of judgment/Yeshua ‘s return. Everyone is judged at this time then changed and given a glorified body at this point, the soul can move anywhere because it is in the perfect image of God.
