That line down to rescue the guy in the avalanche was insane. You are a certified bad ass. Was this in bounds at Vail?

how come someone trapped inside that can't get out by themselves? its just snow right? shouldn't it be really light? or is it because there is loose snow underneath them as well, preventing them from getting solid footing to climb out?
@siffoine2 жыл бұрын
There is a literal ton of snow pushing you. Even snow that is light and fluffy gets packed fast, although this looked a little wet which naturally makes it worse. Like making a snowball in your hands but with a metric ton or more snow pushing it together with speed. As soon as the avalanche stops the snow freezes in a second. Avalanches are not a joke.

"I'm jumping." Sometimes that thing inside you doesn't care about danger when people need help. Thank you for being one of the guys blessed to have that trait and being at the right place at the right time.

Mistake #1 . Putting your pole straps around your wrists
@kintarohorowitz2 жыл бұрын
Why? Can you explain please?
@rustyshackelford172 жыл бұрын
@@kintarohorowitz they anchor you down in avalanches. They also get snagged oh trees and you can easily dislocate your shoulders. I cut mine off but you can stick your 4 fingers through and twist the strap around once to make it cling to your palm. That way if they get snagged on something they come off smoothly without yanking your arms behind your body

How did you know there was a person down there???? Also, did you know or were you sure in the moment that it was “safe” or did you just go for it bc it looked clear? That’s so crazy.. ☝️
@krotchlickmeugh6272 жыл бұрын
He watched the avalanche. He saw his helmet sticking out of the snow. It was his brother. He didnt know the ledge was safe. In fact he thought it wasnt because it wasnt. See the hole when he went over the ledge? That was a tree. Which usually has an empty cavity where the snow melts around the branches. Called a tree well. They can be very, very deep. If he had hit that hole. Hed be worse off than his brother stuck in the snow. If he broke his fall with the tree branches. Hed either suffocate or freeze.
