I always appreciate your videos, even if I can't get to them right away. UBC+Vancouver were my old stomping grounds and I do miss them, so to see it through your videos makes me happy. And I like that your videos are realistic and mundane - that's my favourite kind of content. Thank you for putting in all the effort to film and edit, and for sharing them all on here. Hope you have a good weekend :)

I think you have a future as a full time vlogger 😆. I really love how unfiltered these videos are and just how real and accurate it portrays everything, since when I was going to classes, it was also much of the same experience for me (day to day felt really boring). Thank you for having the dedication to consistently make these! Also just because I am really curious for some reason, are you a chemistry major? :o
@DailyMaeilКүн бұрын
Haha hopefully I can keep this going until I graduate 🤓 And I really appreciate that, thank you! I'm in ISCI, integrated sciences major and my integration is psychoneuroimmunology loool that's why you see me taking random courses here and there! Thanks for watching since the beginning 🫡🫶🏻

@@DailyMaeil ohhhh cool! I guess that is sort of like IGEN(Integrated Engineering) where it is a combination of all the science majors in one major. Psychoneuroimmunology sounds so cool though! Might be a stupid question but, is that similar to psychology? I always thought psychology was really cool 😂
@DailyMaeil23 сағат бұрын
Oh! I didnt know they had something like that in Engineering 😲 I was confused too at first, but I basically chose 3 areas of integration: psychology, neurology, and immunology and I had to submit a proposal with list of courses related to all three areas of integration. So yea I took bunch of psyc courses in the beginning 🤣

Keep up the good work. People watch similar to that of a scientific observer. Not to change your behavior, only showing new insights which is what we commonly see on social media people showing highlights. It is also useful for UBC perspective students to see the day to day including the mundane to see what one type of life is like at UBC. It can be mundane day to day but 30000 of these days make up an entire lifetime. Only when we look back at our lives can we decide for ourselves if we have lived a meaningful life. I find it interesting as it is a different life from what I had so your mundane could be new for others. It is also the same for those who are in similar situation to you studying everyday to share similar feelings (mutual enjoyment or suffering). It comes across humble and honest. I do expect more people to see this especially as new school year starts so it is more likely to reach 500+ views than average below 100 views in the future.

Love Jetstream's (I think that's a Jetstream lol). Always used them, but I've never ever actually ran out of ink, ever. Someone always seemed to "borrow" it, and well I guess it had legs of it's own, because that was the end of that when it came time to "unborrow" it. Now I just use a Sharpie, Chisel Tip. Why? CHISEL TIP WORKS THE BEST, NOBODY BORROWS THE CHISEL TIP, NOBODY WANTS THE CHISEL TIP, NOBODY CAN HANDLE THE CHISEL TIP. Writes great too, especially when it's only writing through a few sheets behind it and not the whole desk. Although kinda awkward to hold and the strong is smell at times...

A lot more materials keep getting added to the courses so that if you go through everything and do everything, you are supposed to get an "A". It is more work and steps than necessary but breaking it down for the average student to a step by step process. Step by step process of having evidence of your work is even more important in the age of AI where final product can be completed in a few minutes. If you do everything across all courses either someone who is very efficient, or barely has time for things outside of school obligations. Curious if you were able to secure an internship. It looks and sounds like insomnia. Take good care of your health.

Lindt is expensive unless they have the sales a few times a year that is 40-50% off at least when I last went a few years ago. Otherwise can also buy it in bar form such as 100g Lindt Lindor 70% Cocao at Walmart is $3.50. The other flavors are the reason to go to the store as one cannot buy it easily elsewhere.

The planner price of $30 CAD is in line with Canadian market especially with the stickers that add some cost to the price. Probably half price or more if bought in Korea. If you were to do a short print of 500 planners locally would still cost you $15 /unit planner for a local designer with printing. It is a time sensitive item so there would be less sold in April 2025 or after as the pages go from Nov 2024 to Dec 2025. Curious about the stationary and artbox customers as I pass by the stores, see people inside but don't visit there myself. Good luck with term 2 start tomorrow.

Big Way hotpot dailyhive says would open in Jan/Feb 2025 at UBC. Soup adds $10 additional cost usually. Chocho near Metrotown (and now second location Richmond) is all you can eat hotpot is pretty good. Marble House Eatery for Tuesday for seniors 65 or older is only $20 all you can eat hotpot which is price of a bowl of ramen noodles. Successful business model as they can open same distance as Starbucks locations and still earn a decent profit and kept busy.
@DailyMaeilАй бұрын
Is chocho good?? I saw too many instagram ads but I wasn't sure if it's worth it 🫢 AND I.CANT.WAIT. for bigway at UBC. I hope they won't overcharge... the Chipotle at UBC has such tiny portions :(
@moldenm5239Ай бұрын
@@DailyMaeil The businesses at UBC often are independent or group owned vs. corporate owned so if students accept lower portions or lower quality ingredients that is cost cutting. I assume same business model but prices per 1kg weight could be higher or some other charges. I do like Chocho and go there once every 2 months. The price since Sep 2024 has gone up. It is $53 a person + tax + tips. It depends on what food and how much you can eat. The varsity athletes and hungry students who seem like they have not eaten well for an entire week make their money back. Otherwise it is trying different food. The premium meats if you buy at grocery store would be $8-10/pound without it being sliced. I would say eating 5 pounds of higher priced food earns your money back. I actually plan to go to Chocho in about 10 hours for lunch.

@@DailyMaeil Objectively it is pretty decent for Vancouver and surrounding areas. Globally, friends who have lived in other major cities have commented it is average compared to New York, Shanghai and other major cities with fine dining. I mostly make USD so with a rising USD, cost of living has stayed relatively stable in Canada for me. In the US, a similar hotpot AYCE place would cost $53 USD. A vlog is a lot of work. Plus with part of my work being legal/investigative, anything I put up online could end up in a court or discussed in a meeting by opposition. Perhaps after I no longer take on that part of work and only focused on business/scientific. Merry Christmas!

Chemistry is about doing a bit each day, and it will add up. You learn the pieces, understand the concepts, and then assemble them like a puzzle. The people who memorize unless they have a photographic memory often fail as it gets more and more complex. E.g. if it reaches 13 step synthesis reaction. Aquaphor and similar products some years are 50% off Boxing day at Superstore if they have it as part of gift set / travel pack. A bigger issue is rising cost and falling Canadian dollar will make things more expensive especially if imported but still cheaper than if bought in US. Hope you enjoy your break.

@@DailyMaeil Shoppers had the gift sets at 67% off so a $25 gift set item valued individually $30+ was selling for $8.34 and mom bought a bunch of different ones while I was asleep. It sold out quickly early morning. I assume online sellers also stocking up as inventory. By noon, nothing cheap expected. Superstore didn't have anything at all this year so either sold out at 50% off or they had better inventory management so there is already little left after Christmas.
