Ya know, I’m not much of a Star Wars fan. It sucked after Empire Strikes Back. But in their defense, all I can counter with is: Star Trek V. and every time time travel was introduced as the series plot.

The movie is bad and no, it didn't ruin my life. In fact it saved me a lot of money. No more buying the blu rays or going to see future movies in theaters. No more action figures and no need for Disney+.

I hate Star Trek. But, he's right. Jar Jar was terrible. And so were the sequels and the characters therein. But, some people probably love them. That's cool.

Star Wars fans get disappointed because we expect the movies to be great and they aren't. Star Trek films because they are usually terrible can at least pleasantly surprise us when they are OK or even merely competent (You've one dozen lens flares in three minutes you've seen enough for a lifetime!) . I haven't done the side-by-side but there are roughly the same number of theatrically released SW & ST films. It is very possible that even though the majority of the ST films are "meh" to god-awful, they MAY be more consistent in quality depending on which metrics you use (clearly not box office, of course. SW receipts are like the GDP of a small nation!). For this viewer, I can say that SW at least has two or 2.5 movies that are good-to-great and totally re-watchable. ST, on the other hand... maybe one? I don't think that franchise make much sense on the big screen.

Will was right about how bad the Sequel Trilogy would end up being. Just like how bad the Prequel Trilogy started, before it ended good. This one started good, before it ended bad. All in one, the Prequel Trilogy was better than we remember.
